The next 1/18th Spitfire

Post by VMF115 » Fri Oct 30, 2009 4:48 pm

The next 1/18th Spite fire needs to take cue from Tamiya new 1/32 scale
Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc

I would forgo retractable landing gear (plug in play as in the 1/32 bbi F-4)as long as all flight controls where movable and engine cowling was removable as well.

I would love to see the next Spit in 1/18th like this.

Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

I am patiently awaiting the next affordable Spit. I would take any one of those schemes you posted.

I think that there would be a good market for a Spitfire.Any Spitfire.
Look at how much the 21C ones are selling for.
The biggest market you would think would be Britain. However, there are not very many Brits who do 1/18 scale.
But I think that 1/18 collectors around the world would snap up any new Spitfire release.
I would prefer BBI to do it.They did a great job on the Me109.
JSI would probably not be interested,at least for a while. They are to busy doing repaints of the 21c molds.

Ah Hello!

Ever heard of Canada? You know, the 2nd largest country in the world?
Where You live! (don take this seriously ...)

Generally, Canadian modellers want ANY Spitfire mark. I believe we were using them after Britain gave them up. Ditto for the Lancaster. I bet almost every Canadian Modeller has a Spitfire or two or 3.

We like and enjoy a lot of WWII stuf that we produce in concert with the British.

We used the Centurion Tank for years & years, for example.

In the Victoria Scales Modellers Society, you'd be surprised how many members purchased the 1/18 Spit and the Avenger. Some won't even admit it.

If PickleHaube does the Spit, I'm getting it.

Cheers!

HD  8) 8) 8) :) :) :)
