Received BadCat Corsair, comments

Post by JOC » Wed Aug 03, 2005 11:52 pm

Received two Corsairs today and one is definately going back. First the pilot was missing one arm, not in the box, and the interior of box was pretty beaten up/torn. Put together the other one, and Yes, the forward gear is real flimsy. Has quite a forward rake to it, compared to the 21st Corsairs. The detailing is quite nice, but be careful of the folding flaps. Mine have a tendancy to fall off if extended too far down. Fairly easy to put together, and they do have a better solution to the folding wings than the earlier Corsairs. These hinges are a far cry better than 21st Corsairs. Maybe when the new line comes out for 21st century, the hinges will be fixed on theirs. Would like to hear comments from others as they assemble theirs.
Thanks

Luckily I was able to "cherry pick" a few at local TRU's this past weekend, but I did notice that quite a few (more so than the P51 or any other BBI product for that matter) had QC "issues", one even appeared to be missing the pilot unless he was jammed under something. I also noticed like several others, that the wingfold mechanism was far better than whats found on 21st's version, and am quite impressed with the weathering effect(s). All in all, excellent aircraft, far nicer than the 21st IMHO, but we'll see how it shapes up to future 21st Corsair(s).

Well, the first one I bought had to go back as well. They gave me two of the same horizontal stabilizers. That was a pretty strange thing to find wrong. I can only rave about the plane though. I just love the detail and the cockpit is awesome. The landing gear is pretty lame but overall it’s a great bird. The pilot is the best yet.
