Digger:
That sounds great, yes the hunt is part of the enjoyment, I agree.

But after you've checked all three WM's within driving distance for the fifth time and found absolutely nothing for us, despite 21C saying that the old days of poor distribution are gone and WM's are stocked.

Who's smokin what  It's nice for you guys that have WM's that carry our stuff, but what do the rest of us do??

With gas pushing three bucks a galon, the rest of us are going to give up, on WM and if it continues, 21C. As has been said, some of us are not hooked on planes and would like to see ground stuff, old ground stuff and new ground stuff. The Dodge was great, but anything else on the horizon??? Nothing, I think. Forget figures we have never seen anyway.

My 2 cents.

I think this is a great idea! I'd buy a Welch' P-40 in a heartbeat.

Well, this is nice, I missed out on Pappy the first time around so I'll definitely be picking this up; I hope future releases are also of exclusive or harder to find planes.

Well - thats exactly my opinion. My first XD items were the first versions of the Mustang, Sherman and US Figures. But the mustang was so damn big and I had no idea how to build a cool diorama with a mustang. So I sold the mustang again and since that, I'm not interested in planes any more. I really got hooked when I saw the XD Tiger and I realised that I love the figures, halftracks and tanks but I'm simply not interested in planes. I'd like to build dioramas, and figures and Tanks are simply perfect for this purpose. I have bougt all the different ground vehicles but not one plane. If there won't be any more new ground vehicles I'm finished with XD. I've been waiting for years for a King Tiger or Sturmgeschütz (Stug) and now with all those new planes anounced, I'm just loosing my patience.

Different Strokes

Post by OnWu » Sun Jul 31, 2005 7:21 pm

I think there are airplane people and tanks/army people with only a few collectors doing both. Luckily 21st and BBI cater to both camps but there is most certainly two different markets here. I think airplanes have a larger appeal with the general population as a whole, which is evidenced by their 2-3 to 1 sales over tanks.

Well, I can't understand this fascination for those planes. I think they are pretty boring.
But hey - I'm glad for those people who love the planes! I hope you all enjoy them and have fun, collecting those.
But it's sad for the armor collecting people :(

Vehicles are definately slow coming out, but you have to be thrilled with the Mk IV! It's at least something new other than the Tiger, Panther and Sherman.....

No kidding! Right in the ballpark with the pre-Legends Pappy release, but now 2 ground crew figs are thrown in.

Hey TKO211,

Can you elaborate on some of the detail differences we will see on the Boyington?
I'm hoping that it will be more than improved QC on the paint, added ground crew, and a fancy box.
Will we see a cockpit that rivals, or surpasses, the new BBI? Will the paint gaf at the wing joint be corrected? Better wing hinges and perhaps some detailing of the wing interior? Removable panels? There are just so many possibilities here so if you have some info on what we'll see, please pass it along.

Thanks,
Rogo

Rogo,

I think as far as the plane is concerned I dont think we will see anything new. 21st I doubt will retool the Corsair for this series because if they did the cost would be huge for them and no doubt US. I think it will stay the same as the original Pappy release.

But I could be wrong. Six mos from now we will have the answer.

21st Corsair with Ground Crew

Post by digger » Wed Aug 03, 2005 6:01 pm

It will be out in 2 months :P It's already August
To keep it so cheap with ground crew they probably will just upgrade the paint. I hope the crew comes with tools. 8)

The first of the Legends series is due in October. But past history has shown these initial dates to be pie-in-the-sky. The aircraft tooling will probably be the same but the figs are new.

Prediction: December 2005 at the earliest.

Very good price. Worth that for two extra figures, unless they are M113-quality. Then again, I've even been able to find uses for those guys.

If we do see these even before the end of the year, it will at least explain some of what the Avengers delays have been. Man, I hope they don't do a Yeager F86 in this series. I was hoping to avoid adding that bird to my collection....

It will be out in 2 mos digger? If thats true then cool. But I'll pass on the "Pappy" Corsair because as I've said I'm not a BlackSheep fan. The figs I could use but if they dont sell them seperatly then for get it. I'll keep my eye on what 21st comes out with down the road. But out in 2 mos huh? I'll believe it when I see it knowing 21st's habit of changing release dates.

Oh, ok..... I bet they gave out a low-ball figure and pulled it before they had to honor it, hehehehe.... Thanks for clearing that up Britt....

When I looked at the site on Wednesday I believe they were priced at $57, less than $60 anyway. Funny thing is, they only showed 2 available..... on a pre-sale????? Sounds funny to me.
