Custom painted 1:18 Aircraft TKO UPDATED 1/02 F-14 Vandy 1
Here is the latest F-86 project. I have been wanting to do this scheme ever since I heard that 21C was doing a Sabre. I loved the idea of doing a US camo scheme, the black and yellow bits were simply too cool to not become realized in glorious 1:18 scale. The process was pretty much the same as all the other projects I have done.
First, I masked off all the useable markings and canopy. Then a fresh coat of primer, followed by the USAF medium Gray color. I then painted the black and yellow markings and masked those off for the olive drab camo. The final markings were painted using the vinyl stencil method.
Enjoy the pics!

Thats a good idea and I still want to do it. Maybe later this month after I finish my Bubbletop P-47. After that I think I might be done for a little bit. -running out of room!
WOW, that one is a beaut!! I like the gold one better though:) Just a little bit of info for ya, the missiles that have live warheads have a yellow stripe on the front and a brown one in back (where the stripes are now) not that Im a critic and mean no offense. Great job on all your repaints, I want to do a 16 like your Isreali to go along with my F15 that Ill get when it appears.
Cool! actually I really appreciate your input on the missiles. I knew they needed something as the all white was way wrong. I wondered how they should appear exactly. Now that I know I think I will repaint them properly! Thanks for the help!popeye357 wrote:WOW, that one is a beaut!! Cool Brother, I didnt want to sound like a rivet counter. Heres a link to a Standard Missile: http://images.google.com.bh/imgres?imgu ... %26hl%3Den
Damn thats a big link!. Enlarge the pic and you can see the bands around the bird. These are all blue because it is a static display. If it had brown bands below and the top one was blue, it would be a telemtry or dudded warhead shot. Yellow means high explosive and brown is low explosive, blue is training.

It's been a while but I'm ready to bump this thread back into current circulation as I have 3 projects finished, and 4 more that are pretty close, and many more I am planning to do. - All for my personal collection.
My projects took a long break from Dec. to May. I spent all of this time repainting for other members and few other's. I still have 2 F-14's in the works with members who are adding the D engines and flight tags and some other stuff so those guys are still patiently waiting for some of those parts to come in... (should have you guys wrapped up very soon). Meanwhile as I have watched paint dry on those I was able to move back onto some of my own.
I'm going to take some pictures of my newest Me-109e repaint with working LED wing lights and electronic prop. I will then post stuff tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry for the REALLY long awaited reply. No the Avenger is not finished. It still awaits the final markings and then she is all done. I plan to have her finished this coming week after a couple years on the shelf. It will be nice to finally see it done. It's a foreign scheme... really unusual.Black_Dragon_One wrote:so is the bird done i want to see

Pics tomorrow. Promise.
Thanks for the kind words. It's nice to people enjoy them. The GH Sabre was a fun one. The gold paint was neat to use (when else would I ever get a chance to do that). The vinyl on those hawk heads was crazy! That plane now belongs to a board member who asked about buying it every 2-3 months for the last year. Finally had to do it.
it's in a good home now. I might paint it again someday.
As for my update
I have finished the following projects. Some were 2 years in the making just waiting for me to paint the markings.
Me-109e
TBF-Avenger
Tiger Tank
P-47 Thunderbolt Bubbletop
F-16 (75% complete)
F-14 (15% complete)
I have more planes planned. More to come.
