What if someone made an F-5E in 1/18?

There's also been a few "conversions" of the F5 into other aircraft, both real and fictional.

Instead of the F5's normal wings, give it forward-swept mainplanes and horizontal "trailing edge extensions" and you'd have either an X-29 or a Battletech Stingray, for example.

I'd like one or two, but I'm supposed to be selling the 1/18th aircraft I've got already to raise some cash...

An A-4 would have more historical significance for a collector, lots of schemes, and armament options. It is also not all that big and that would keep costs down.

However, the F-5 looks cool and is a neat, sporty plane. I recently read an article in Smithsonian's Air & Space magazine about the models produced by the Northrop model shop. (These are of current and concept planes and go to people associated with the company or other buyers). The article noted in a picture caption that the F-5 is actually one of the shop's most popular models; see here:

Perhaps that lends support for this F-5 viability debate
