Is that the Afrika Corps tan one or the Grey one?
They are pricey on eBay, but $120 is a little steep me thinks. I think they retailed for less than $50.
I have the Afrika Corps one with rider I bought for $19 on sale at TRU years ago.
Man, thrift stores are getting a little uppity lately.
I went to go look at some shirts the other day and couldn't believe the prices.

It's the grey one with the rider in a leather looking trenchcoat. It still has the original TRU price tag on it and says $69.99
Looks like this:

also, it seems maybe the schwimmwagen is the better buy? Too bad it doesn't come with a figure

Hard to say about the price, since another sold for around $90 on ebay as well. box is in perfect shape too. Mainly asking if it's likely to go up in value?Dauntless wrote:There you go. that grey one went above the $120 mark. Though how's the box?
I don't have the grey one, but got Steve McQueen on cycle (no side car)
I don't think the schwimmwagen is that rare, or hard to find.
The tan Afrika Corps Kubblewagen is rarer (convention exclusive)
Also, this schwimmwagen is at $46 with $30 shipping!

The price for the Schwimmer is fair but the shipping is a little steep.
The toy is not bad, I've seen several customs with this Schwimmer that really makes it a knockout. 21C also had a Schwimmer that was captured and used in the big Paris liberation parade. It has U.S. markings and some G.I. graffiti and it comes with flowers thrown on it. Neat.
I have both, one in camo and the captured in green.
As for the bike with sidecar, it is nice if you are not a bolt counter. A $90 price is good in today's market. Original price cannot be used to base a value today.
When 21C started to design this bike with sidecar and without, the original German manufacturer demanded royalties from 21C for every bike sold. To avoid that, 21C kind of made a generic bike that combines more than one manufacturers bike and therefore is not an exact copy of any. So bolt counters don't like the bike. The guy that comes with the bike is nice. The leather greatcoat looks great, even the leather became a vinyl material that looks similar. 21C did a good job on these bikes.
Now if only they had made that little German tank as a companion to the Stuart, we would all have been in hog heaven.

With a little effort and painting, you can make it like this :

Still need to add some paint and rust effects on exhaust then add stuff and crew.

I picked up a loose one of these, minus the MG and rider, at a 1:1 military show last fall for $10. Picked up the 1/6 MG two pack at WalMart for $5.
Going to use it to scale down some sidecars for my IJ motorcycles.
There are still deals in the most unusual places.
