If I had a spare hunnert, I would get it, only to fill in a space in my tbolt collection and hang it- I never saw one anywhere around here, and there are lots of walmarts in the Atlanta area- fair market price? is that like lobster tail pricing or what??

The plane is obviously rarer now than it was several years ago. Is it the most rare of the P-47s? No, I don't think so. That honor would probably fall to the revised checker tail version both without and with the nose art.

The "Peg o My Heart" version of the P-47 Razorback came out in the 2003-2004 timeframe and was part of 21c's dive back into 1:18 scale aircraft after their first financial fiasco. They were originally available at Wal Mart as part of the Motorworks lineup. I too saw very few P-47s at my local Wal Marts, but they were around and for the record, there were more P-47s in my area than there ever were Avengers. Even my local Hobbytown store had them around the same time.

$100 seems a bit high for what was a $40-$60 plane, but such trends seem to be all the norm these days and it looks like JSI is not making the P-47 any time soon.

I would have to say it is one of the most rare razorbacks and the neatest. Have them all except that one, never could find it except on ebay for more than I wanted to pay. One just sold for $118 the other day. Its pricy but there just going to keep going up too, kind of like your taxes.

It is the *only* P-47 I own, and it honestly is a very nice aircraft ... though I'm a sucker for olive drab or camo paint jobs and invasion stripes get me every time (hence why I am kicking myself for not buying a California Cutie).

As for the rarity, here in Northern California it is the *most* frequent P-47 after one of the silver ones (maybe that is Jabbo or something, one of the other board members could probably give a name to what I was seeing). Peg clogged WalMart shelves. The Checkerboard is the one I was hoping to find, eventually I found one with the rooster for my brother (that might be Donnie Boy ... can't remember).

Is Peg worth $100? I've got to agree with TMTG that a $40-$60 aircraft at $100 sounds a bit much. Is Peg worth $60 ... in a heartbeat! :)

If it helps, if I saw the Checkerboard at $75 at a retail store, I'd stare at it for about 30-minutes and finally justify the purchase based on how much beer I'd not drink for the next year. ;)

That said, if you shill out the $100, I honestly think you'll fall in love with Peg. At the time, I wasn't crazy about Peg ... it just happened to be about the only P-47 in the Sacramento area for a while. But since that time I really like it. I do not think you'll feel robbed and the P-47s do go for a pretty penny on ebay (I've been hunting myself for any under $60 w/ box).

I saw a Checker Tail Razor Jug with the nose art Tman mentioned on ebay last month, and people were going nuts over it.
I don't know what it ended at.

P-47's are still commanding above $100 though if you check completed auctions.

I don’t think you can go wrong with that plane. It wads not easily found in local Walmarts so I had to resort to buying online. It’s a great looking bird and one of my favorite Jugs.

Not sure on the four wing emblems (I seem to recall that being an error for the checkertail plane) but on some P-47s, they had one national insignia on the upper surface and two on the lower surfaces (one on each wing). I'm not sure why that was done, and it was not done on every P-47, but at least one or two 21c models have it correctly replicated.

All this P-47 razorback talk made me get out my "Blond Angel" plane. It has probably been 2-3 years since I had it on display. The design shows some of its age and toyishness when compared to newer releases - even ones that came out in the same timeframe such as the AH-1 Supercobra, Sptifire and FW-190. Nevertheless, the P-47s all had awesome and well-selected paint jobs 8)

I remember seeing 8 Blond Angels at a local WM years ago. My uncle and I drove up just to clean them out. That was about the time WM started selling 1:6 stuarts for 50 bucks. 1 shopping cart loaded to the gill with nothin but 21st. People were starring at us like we robbed em..My fisrt Jug and my favorite razorback. Never seen any more blondys after that anywere.

I have a Blonde Angel, Checkertail, Donnie Boy, razorbacks and the Eagleston, and Eileen bubbletop jugs. I like the razorbacks best, I don't know why but they just look better to me.
I wish I had a Peg. It's a nice looking paint scheme. The other one I wish I had is Huckle De Buck.

I'm not much of a plane collector and when I was selling off most of the planes I had collected way back then, for some reason I kept the "Peg" and glad that I did. It's now the only P-47 I have in my collection.
