I've been picking up late '30s and early '40s 1:18 diecast vehicles CHEAP on eBay with the idea of making some airfield service vehicles. This is the first experiment. I got this 1:18 1940 Ford truck for under $10:

... took it apart, painted the fenders and body and wheels, turned the tires around so the white sidewalls weren't showing, and then fabricated the flatbed from styrene stock and popsicle sticks:
