A couple of 21st items in Las Vegas

Post by Ruger » Fri Jun 12, 2009 3:55 pm

Thought I'd let word out that HobbyTownUSA in Las Vegas has a few remaining items. A couple of playsets, the one with he Stuart I think, and a "dogfights" pack, with the well thought out Stuka vs. Macchi pairing. Other than that they had one FOV P-51 (green, D model). That was it. But the guy working there was able to recommend a good pizza place, so it was still worth the trip.

I'll let you know if the Nellis museum is worth the trip later.

I'm still looking for a Stuart, so I better get down to my local Hobbytown.

Hobbytown in Las Vegas? Ruger, you searched too far away :P

The HTUSA store in Fresno has a slightly better selection of 1:18 and 1:32 items. 1:32 consists of the 21c King Tigers (both types) 88mm and 8-in howitzer guns, and a few planes: white seven FW-190, a couple Macchis, and Me-109E. 1:18 consists of some BBI helos, a 21c Stuka, F-104, ME-262A, a couple F-86s, and a Flight 19 Avenger with serious QC defects. There's also some BBI paratrooper figures.

The Wal Mart in Clovis still had some 21c playsets a couple weeks ago, full price.

TRU has the best selection of mostly 1:32 21c and FOV items.

Too far away? Nah, I was in town with the girlfriend as she attended a trade show, figured I might as well check out a hobby shop or two. It's not like there is anything else to do in Vegas...

I also went to a TRU. They had a few M115 howitzers, a couple of FOV items, and, oddly enough, some 1:6 weapons sets (Tommy guns and RPG's). Never did get to visit Hoppy People... That store really went out of their way to make themselves hard to visit. There hours were crappy.

I didn't end up buying much at the Hobby Town, I think the GF bought more, but the cashier was able to recommend a really good local pizza place.

You know, there was this Hobby People store down where my brother used to live in Chino Hills. I would go in there when I visited him, but the hours were very wierd... Why the heck does a store open at 11am and close a 6pm? The Chino Hills store at one time had a great selection of 21c items and one of the best 1:32 FOV selections I ever saw in person. Way better than the Fresno Hobbytown (or Wal Marts for that matter). I usually could not walk into that particular store without walking out with something. Since my brother moved, I haven't been back to the store in years but doubt they have very much now...
