Just in case anyone is interested in adding trains to their diorammas, I thought I would dump some information here regarding potential military railroad models. I find this stuff every so often, so I thought I would share. Most of the info will be for 1/18, since that's what most of my BBI and XD is for.
Maginot Line, France WWII
The French used a 2-foot underground railway to link the various forts. For 1/18, you can use "O"-scale track and mechanisms. O-scale track is generally oversized in gauge and rail height. It come out to be a scale 22.5 inches wide, which is only 1" narrower than the gauge the French used (600 mm or 23.6 inches). Found a good site showing technical info on the French equipment

RAF Ammunition Depots
The British also used narrow-gauge trams to serve RAF ammunition depots. Can't remember if they were built to 24-inch gauge or 600 mm gauge. Anyways, same rules apply as the Maginot line. This site is a good starting point

Small British Trains
Found this one day, thought it was too cool. A 15" gauge British Armored train.

For this, I would probably go to S-scale track and mechanisms. I am considering building one of these, just because it is so unique.
