Why no A-10?

Post by cornbreadfred » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:42 pm

I am still kind of new to this forum, and I am sure this topic has been discussed a few times. But, I have to wonder why there has not been an 1:18th scale A-10. Not only is the A-10 impressive in its role, it is one of the coolest looking planes ever made. I have to believe that someone will make an A-10 in the future.
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

...dude...you have no idea how long this debate has gone on   . I'm sure a quick search through our past forums will bring up plenty on the subject. All I can say is....yes....long overdue.

Because all the guys that want an A-10 have been very bad,,,,their wives wrote to all the 1/18th companies out their and told them because my husbands have not been nice to us please don't make the A-10.

I heard that all the board members wives know all the Wives on the board of all the 1/18th companies...I know its a small world.

You don't want to know what the husbands on this board had to do for their wives just to get the F-15 and F-14 in 1/18th.....

Story be told Zach the fan club president from 21st took the prototype home for a month...his wife said "nope not going to happen box it up and send it back to 21st right now!!!!!!!!!

21st took this as a sign that it should not make the A-10 in 1/18th

BBI was all set to release a beutiful A-10. They offered it to TRU but were declined because TRU had already committed to one....which turned out to be the Power Team A-10.

So, nothing happened as in those days BBI would not start production unless they had a committment from a big box retailer.

If JSI is somehow affiliated with BBI, which at least seems possible, it is logical to assume that they will produce it one day, if they get rolling.

BTW we have several near death virtual hunger strikers who have been holding out for many YEARS for an A-10.

Anyone ever get pics of the BBI prototype?

It's weird, I think the A-10 is perhaps the most recognizable military aircraft on the planet.
Every time there would be aircraft shots over Iraq or Afganistan, other than helicopters, you'd see an A-10 (maybe because they fly slow enough to photograph)

You'd think that the A-10's in Terminator Salvation would help too.
Alas, all we get there is another inaccurate Warthog.

i have seen pictures of the bbi a-10 and it looked stunning. Their best effort to date by far.

Tney were lost when yahoo picture service closed.

I wouldn't have shown the anyway as they were sent to me by Mike in confidence and i still feel somewhat of a responsibility to respect that, even after so much time.

But be sure to include a big check when you do write.

Maybe Jack at Skyworks should have done the A10 first.

Well we know it was made at least. There's some hope like you say if BBI and JSI can get together.

Didn't Jason say that they were working on one? I guess that would create some pause for Admiral if there was an existing prototype already made ala the old Phantom shell game with 21st.
