Wonderful! This is certainly a highly desired product and hopefully its release will not follow the path of the Avenger and come out one and a half years from now. The fact that they have it painted is perhaps a good sign... I will deffinitely plan on getting one as my Corsair & (future) Avenger & Japanese troops will need one to compliment. This is a plane I've been waiting for! Good job 21st!

Now to get the Avenger on the road...

I can't believe that we do get a Zero. Perhaps they are listening to us now. Right on!! Too bad it's not the A6M3 Type 22 instead of the Type 32. They could have made more varients of that one. Nishizawa's would be cool to have. Oh well, at least the Corsair and P-40 will have a "special purpose".

Very Cool. :D That is one aspect of playability that is really missing from the AC. I think I might take guns over engine. I hope this sets a trend. 8)

Guys I owe 21st an apology for all the bad comments I made about them in the past. They have delievered! A ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you 21st because know my Ira Kepford Corsair will have something to finally chase. Man this was really kept under wraps by 21st. I dont care how long it takes them to release the Zero because at least I know its coming and the wait will be worth it.

Very cool feature on their new tool P-51 release and I was wondering if the open gun bays were going to be one of the surprises, well I was right. I was hopeing for the removable engine cowl with detailed Merlin but oh well. Will I order one online? The answer is no and thats because I'll wait for it to hit Wallymart. But even then I doubt if I'll pick one up because BBI's Mustang is good enough for me. NOW if they do their Mustang up in the markings of a 357th bird like "Old Crow" or "Glammourus Glenn" then and only then will that be enough for me to buy one. Any word on release date yet?

Avenger is looking very very good and is a MUST buy so theres no question on me getting one of those.

In the end I'm happy to see a Zero getting done in 1/18th scale now theres only one more Fighter I want to see get done and thats the Hellcat. I believe one may be on the drawing board but is being put under wraps by 21st. They hid the Zero, now when will we see the Cat pop up out of no where?

This is a fun time to be a 1/18th collector. Again thanks 21st for the Zero. You have made me and my Ike Kepford F4U very happy.

holy sh*tballs, i just saw the zero! seeing it made me think back to my days of playing pacific general with the oriental music and such.

the first brand new 1:18 scale plane we've seen in some time, and its a whopper. at first glance the plane looks awesome, especially the canopy.

i can't wait to see the pilot!

nicely done 21st! good show, now bring it home to daddy!

Hey Guys: Thanks to all of you Groundpounders who went to Comic Con and reported back with such excellent intel and photos. You guys have made my summer with the news about the Zero-hot damn!
Thanks also to P-51 and A. Ferguson for running such an interesting and informative Board. Many lives (mine included) would be much poorer without it! :D

Yeehaa!! Just what I hoped for!!! Now that is one sweet looking plane! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE make it!!!!!!!!

I'm sure that 21st will change it from the Model 22 to the rounded wing-tipped Model 32. Other than that, the plane is just incredible. What a breath of fresh air! :D

mmmmm. Note the Big Beautiful Doll box. Are we looking at BBD re-released with the new P-51???

Zero at Comic Con

Post by JimBob55 » Sun Jul 17, 2005 7:26 am

:D :D :D

I agree with Ski, I think the rounded wing variant may be a better choice for 21C to try than the clipped wing version. Here's a good site which has some good background on the Zero:
http://www.vectorsite.net/avzero.html

Though, again I must say that the Zero is a very welcome suprise!! Way to go, 21C! and way to go for the great scouting at Comic Con!!

Thanks,
JimBob

i think the rounded wing version is better too.....probably the way they'll go, since they said that was an early prototype.

Still....if BBI is making one too and they do the round wing tip version, this would be extra cool as the clip wing..

Congrats on getting the Zero. I'm taking this as a very good sign from 21st. The way they kept this under wraps was amazing. Who knows what they are working on. Now if they will just finish and release that A-10 they have. :D

Very impressive.... not only does it look like we will see a Zero, but the plane looks fantastic!

The Mustang is outstanding as well. Why would you even bother building model kits any more with detail like that?

Top notch stuff 21Century!!!! But then, I wouldn't expect anything less. Thank you for listening to your biggest fans! :D :D :D

Oh yeah, I'm with you on the A-10 Birddog. I guess we need to start a push for that now... apparently somebody is hearing us.

Hey now..no need for the hostility towards the A-10. You got your Zero. Let's see a little more modern jets in the line now. At least they do have an A-10 and there is a greater chance of it becoming a reality. Besides, the B-25 is larger than the A-10.

Hats off to 21st century. It's a great feeling to know that they are listening to what the fans want and although it may take them a long time to deliver the product, they deliver it with unbeatable quality. Quality that is worth the wait. :D

Teamski,

If they release the new tool Mustang in the markings of Big Beautiful Doll then without question I will purchase one. I was wondering the same thing when I saw the box as well.

It is the new BAR 1:18 building. You can buy levels and stack them if I understand correctly. Like all BAR, not cheap but very nice.

Didn't someone say that there would be a future tie in to the extra feature Mustang? I take this to mean something like ground crewmen. Any thoughts?

HOLY CRAP, THE ZERO!!!!!

Please, please, please don't make us wait as long for that as the Avenger. Now, how about the two out together? Package them with a little memorial to the pilots who flew the Avengers at Midway!
