JSI Dealers: 1/18 jet pilots optional?

Post by dragon53 » Mon May 25, 2009 2:14 pm

JSI DEALERS:

Do the JSI 1/18 F-14, F-14 and SU-27 come with pilots or are the pilots optional?

For $200 msrp, the three jets ought to come with the pilots. Please pass my comment on to JSI.

Thanks very much.

Dude, the 14 was priced around 300 bucks when that preorder came up from Kawai, who cares about the pilots?? Yes, it would be nice to have someone to put in the Pit but we have a 14, 15 and J11 coming!!!!!

BLACK_DRAGON_ONE:

So if the pilot are crappy looking, then what's the alternative---buying 21st Century 1/18 Corsair pilots from Monkeydepot and putting them in the F-14 and pretending it's THE FINAL COUNTDOWN?.....I don't know of anyone making 1/18 modern Navy pilots.

I'd rather have crappy pilots than no pilots at all.

If JSI wants to make a big splash in the model business and make a good impression with paying customers, they should include pilots with their $200 jets.

I care about the pilots....that's why I posted this thread.

What's next?....a $200 F-4 Phantom with optional pilots, Sparrows and Sidewinders?

I don't really care about the pilot figure much as I display my models without the pilot figures. Now I would like some modern ground crew figures. :)
Fred, really looking forward to the JSI 1/18th scale Grumman F-14 Tomcat.

Don't get bummed dragon53. Seems these models would come with pilot figures. I just hope the pilot figures are the quality of BBI figures. :D

I understand that you care about the pilots but we dont even know if they will come with the birds or not. On the other hand, are you not gonna buy these if they have no pilots?

I too am hoping that the new JSI planes come with pilots. Pilots really add a lot to a model, even if they are less-than-perfect figures. Since the planes shown have been two-seaters, it would be fantastic if they even came with two! Still, in the event that they don't, I'm stocking up on some BBI Helo pilots with the possibility of converting them into jet pilots should the need arise. They've already got the flight suit, vest, and a helmet of sorts. Stuck inside the plane, they won't be too noticable at first glance.

If worst comes to worst, I'll simply put my BBI F-18 and F-16 pilot in the same JSI plane. The new planes will be so big I won't have the display space to have, say, an F-14 and F-18 on the same ceiling

So they break right out of the package . I don't care for the bbi figures at all. They have never been quality to me. Plus the new ones were the worst of the bunch, as all the stuff they sculpted on limited the movement . I would take 21st C series 1 figures over bbi, but maybe thats just me.

We don't have anything from this company yet. I would hope they include a figure, but is there anything saying or not? I'm not getting my hopes up on this company until I see something. You would think they could have brought something to the table with the repaints they claim before starting all this hype. Really seems like 21st C marketing to me, with promises and then nothing forever. I know most are jonesing for something, but it seems everything went dry. Until I see some hard proof, I don't believe anything. Pictures on the web are nothing to me. I can show many pictures of 21st C items we never got, so really is this anything different? I think not.

If the pilots are optional, it would allow us to buy as many as we want. I'd happily buy quality pilot figures.

I'd put a stone temple pilot in it if I had to :)

Surely JSI got the jet pilot molds from 21st.
I thought they were pretty good sculpts.

I bet we will see BBi quality pilots, if no new pilots maybe even a rerun of the F-16 and F-18 pilots.

Other than being terribly dated for these airframes?

If they're going to price it at $200 a jet...include a damn pilot with the thing.

I can't see why they would not have a pilot with these new jets. Didn't every 1/18th scale airplane in the past come with a pilot?

Relax everyone. I read somewhere that said that JSI will be producing both Pilot sets and Aircraft Weapon Accessory sets. They will be sold separately.

GUYS:

This is why I think JSI jet pilots are optional--from Badcat's blog:

"Weapons loadout and pilot sub-packages could be popular sellers and add to the the aircraft's legs and shelf life."

As I said before, for $200, the JSI should come with pilots.

There's no excuse for them not to come with pilots at this price point. I can let them slide on not including back-seaters, but no pilots is shite.

With the F-16 and F-18 going for $300-$600 on eBay, I don't think JSI will feel compelled to spend a lot of money on including the pilots in the original package. I'd be willing to bet they're going to sell them separately, if at all.

I could see the optional pilot stuff and weapon set for the Tomcats if:

1. They have had a number of repaints that have sold well. Pilots would have differing helmet markings and flight suit patches. Plane comes with standard "joe pilot", but you could customize your "Jolly Roger" Tomcat with a yellow VF-84 helmet and skull&crossbones patch on the shoulder.

2. You make a variant of the Tomcat that could incorporate both Phoenix missles and LGB's for a Bombcat.
