Is there a flak 88 good for 1 18 scale?

I want to use a flak 88 for something but i can't really find anything!!!

And if there isn't a good one for 1 18 is there any tips for building one maybe?

I think it works perfect for 1:18 save that it is a little pricey and over 4 pounds!! (ie not a toy). But it has realistic traverse and folding legs. You can find them on ebay for about 50-60, and online retailers 60-90. I have seen it listed as 1:16 but some of the board members who have it might agree with me that it is smaller....I have pictures of it in action with some 1:18 guys if you want I can add them to my webshots.

All digger said is true. I would add these comments: The detailing on it is 'fuzzy' not crisp like a model kit and it is definitely 1/16....in fact the legspan is almost 1/15.

If you just want a nice big 88 that looks ok with 1/18 figures then definitely go for it, you'll like it.

If you are fairly stringent on scale correctness, accuracy and crispness of detail then you may be disappointed. It does look pretty big beside xd boys.

I had one and ended up selling it for the above reasons. I'm certain that we will eventually see an XD 88, especially now that armour is making a comeback and the 32x version is selling out everywhere.

If you do decide to get one go for Ebay. You can find one for $55 and if you're patient, less. Search under 'german cannon', 'german 88' and 'german 88mm'.

The only real drawback is the lack of the wheeled carriage which would be so cool with such a serious piece of weaponry.

I agree and hope that we will see 21c bring out a 1/18 "88". With of course a 8 ton German half-track to pull it. I personally would really like to see that setup in 21c 1/6 so as not having to spend 10K (as is the case now), but hey, that's just me.

I added some photos to my webshots account that show the gun with Action 18 figures. Check the Pola Buildings folder. The scale is much closer than you would think.

Oh and i forgot to mention that the gun is molded with the barrel in full recoil...as though the gun had just fired. It's one solid piece and there is no way to fix this.

If you were looking at the Verlinden kit it is 1/15 scale, so even more out of scale and i've heard it has many assembly problems associated with it....and is a real bear to put together. The diecast would certainly be a better choice..
