new BBI F-16 Thunderbirds, Enduring Freedom?

Post by dragon53 » Sat Apr 18, 2009 7:42 am

Someone posted on another message board that BBI is releasing, in Germany, two new 1/18 F-16s in Thunderbirds and Enduring Freedom paint schemes in June. He said it would be equivalent to $130 in US dollars. He posted photos that didn't post, so I asked for more info and the photos.

I thought BBI had canceled the Thunderbirds F-16 and the Enduring Freedom is a new one to me....Has anyone else heard of BBI's new F-16s?

BBi F-16 Thunderbird is canceled and all preorder refunded.
F-16 Enduring Freedom will be release in June or July. It will cost 120€ (157 US dollars).

For what it's worth, here's the F-16 Thunderbirds being offered in Europe (Germany?)

Very nice, would shipping to the US be prohibitive?

YT:

Assuming the F-16 Thunderbirds is actually going to be released, it might be sold in the US by Militarytoyshop.com which has it as "Coming Soon"...

It will probably get cancelled too. I hate that they tease us and then snatch it back. I would be all over it if it does get released though.

Yeah I guess I thought both of these were canceled, this thread gave me some hope that may not be the case.

it is my understanding that, the way bbi is operating now, is they will only release items if some etailer/retailer/importer foots the bill first. Merit paid for the desert 109G, so we got a desert 109G.

If someone in germany is willing to take on the thunderbirds, enduring freedom or anything else than bbi will make it.

After the fiasco of the zero being stuck in the new government testing, I would be surprised that they would want to deal with the United States again

Here's a German ad for the BBI 1/18 F-16 "Enduring Freedom". It appears to be saying, if the Google translation is correct, that is a pre-order and will be released in Germany in late June, 2009.

From the German website, 48specialmodels.com, dated April 5, 2009:

"Blue Box has canceled the 1/18 scale F-16C "Thunderbirds" and announced a F-16C "Enduring Freedom" Version now. Because we don't know if this is changing again, we will not provide any product information until the item is in stock."

The Enduring Freedom F-16 is listed as a June, 2009 release.

The F-16 Enduring Freedom may be a reality after all---Coreyeagle posted this recently:

"Interestingly enough, I had emailed BBI recently about a spare tail for the F-16 for my missing one and got a reply back from them.

They said they did not have any spare parts, however, they were thinking of possibly opening up the production line with a new model for the F-16 and then replacement parts may become available. I took this to mean they were thinking of doing another F-16, possibly in the near future. "

A German poster on another message board said his dealer told him BBI has canceled the F-16 "Enduring Freedom". Earlier, the F-16 "Thunderbirds" was also canceled.
