Got it just in time!

Post by ExC17load » Sat Apr 18, 2009 5:28 am

I bought a "Hackl" Bf-109G-6 from Aiken's Airplanes just the other day. It was at a pretty decent price, I think it was 70.00 plus shipping. Well, they were one of the online retailers who told me that 21C was out of business. Looking on their website today, that plane would have cost me another 50 bucks if I bought it now. Thankfully I got it when it did. But as you can see, whatever that is out there now will be going at a premium!

one of the reasons 21c went out of business is because sales were too slow at online retailers to sustain them.

So, i'm not sure why online retailers think people will be forking out big bucks for these things now, when they were unwilling to pay much less before now.

Badcat's tumbling private reserve prices would seem to back this up.

There may be a few panic buyers, but i think for the most part xd items will be very available and come down in price as people leave this hobby, in favour of new interests and dump their collections.

Aferg - I tend to agree. I chalk this one up to a bit of a panic mode. I paid the higher price because I never had the opportunity to get it before, but there is no way I would ever pay 120.00 for it.

I suppose like all things, there are a lot of factors causing the prices to fluctuate and I think in time, things will seek out an equilibrium.

the ironic thing is, the Hackl 109 has been out of production for a long time and there is no way 21c would have ever produced it again anyways, so nothing is really different now from the way it was before they went under. Yet the price spiked by 70%.

Well news of 21C going under and the fact that there are no more in the pipeline could cause dramatic price increases. Must be it.
