Any good Hobby Shops in the Orlando area for 1:18?

Post by Fritzkrieg » Wed Mar 25, 2009 8:00 pm

I'm heading to the Orlando area this weekend. I'm wondering if any members from the area know of any shops that carry 1:18 products. Last time I was there I checked Sci Fi city they had a lot of Small Scale military, but know 1:18.

Hey, I'll be in Orlando/Winter Park this weekend myself. I haven't lived there since '96, so I imagine many of the places I recall are long gone as I know some places were when I was down there last summer. I'm going to be looking for 1/32 scale kits myself, since 21st ain't helping me out any, so I'm hoping places like Colonial Photo and Hobby are still open. I know Sci-Fi City (which I much preferred when it was Enterprise 1701) sells some models so I guess I'll hit them up as well.

colonial photo and hobby is still open, they don't carry any 1/18 figures but they have stuff to make 1/18 dios.

Heres their website. http://www.colonialphotohobby.com/

Acme Superstore has tons of toys, the last time i was there they had 21st figs.

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Huh, I didn't know about Acme :?
Guess I too will have to check that one out ;)
For 1/18th, everything is bust around here. I'm sure most WMs are out of WWII fig.s(at least on the South and West side of town) and I saw a few Baboon fig.s at one WM. There's 1/18th size fig.s, mostly WWE Wrestling fig.s and some Marvel fig.s you can chop off their heads to use for other 1/18th Military fig.s But the 1/18th 21st WWII fig.s and most vehicles/planes have about dried up. Not sure about BratsRus, Haven't popped in there lately by FL mall, but West Oaks mall is about toast. a few BBI fig.s, but after that, it's GI Joe only.

Haven't been to Acme in a while - I was always put off by the prices they put on some stuff - kind of a Bad Cat situation except Bad Cat at least marks up stuff potentially worth the money.

I'm guessing Whiz-Bang Collectibles shut down. I seem to recall another shop in Fernwood near 436 and 17-92. Can't remember the name...

Check out www.joedios.com in the forum section there's a user named vader9900 that's about to open a shop sometime soon. I can't remember any other details and their server's busy at the moment. Hope it helps.
