BBI F4U CORSAIR!
Just Recieved This From BBI
Wonder Who's Bird it will Be?
Also recieved one About WWII 82 & 101 Paratroops in 1:18 with Working 'chutes
bbi Hot News - #21483 EF1:18 Corsair
Since the release of our 1:18 scale North American P-51 Mustang we have received lots of requests for other aircraft in this scale.
With so many options to select we finally had to make a choice and so we are very pleased to announce the release of the Elite Force 1:18 scale F4U Corsair.
The Corsair was manufactured by the Chance Vought Corporation for the US Navy and was the first aircraft to exceed 400 MPH. The combination of the mighty Pratt & Whitney RE-2800 engine and the unique "benty wing" design made this a very effective fighter.
Carrying numerous nicknames such as "Whistling Death" and the "U Bird", the Corsair was a highly effective fighter in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
It is a tribute to the Corsair that it continued in service throughout WWII and the Korean conflict and was finally retired in 1969 and gave birth to several famous squadrons such as the "Black Sheep."
The Elite Force 1:18 scale Corsair is equally a tribute to this outstanding aircraft and is accurately scaled and detailed. The aircraft features many operating features such as the uniquely designed rotating undercarriage, working flaps and more.
Right now this outstanding item is on its way to your local dealer or on-line store and really needs to be see to be appreciated..so get your order in as we are sure that. like our P-51, this will be a hot one and will go fast...just like the real one.

Wait, wait, wait, wait, and wait...
Screw this Corsair, though Kudos to BBI nonetheless...
What's this about 1:18 Airborne with working chutes? These from BBI too? We haven't seen the infantry and they're working on Airborne, with working chutes? Count me in for a lot if they look half as spiffy as those early Infantry figures they showed.

No Photos sorry, just a plain text email from the old bbi fan club., (info@blueboxtoys.com)
I'm also skeptical about it and also a little dissapointed. I was really hoping for a Wildcat or a Hellcat if they had to pick a American Pacific Fighter.
I will buy one, if it shows up. I Like Corsairs.
I guess Amazon can change the Listing for a P40 to a F4U now

Whoa
No big surprise - Aviatornut warned us a few weeks ago. I'm sure the bird will be VERY impressive as we know what a 2d crack at a plane can do for detail. I'm just glad they are still in the GAME!
Jesse, check out pics from WoH - there are 6 carded paras from both divisions, but they all have their harnesses and life-vests molded on
Hopefully they will release a set with a different chest mold for variety.
To bbi's credit, when those fanclub emails go out you know the product is near...
Also goes to show that the horizon could be full of fun surprises - after all, it had been months since we heard about the paras and they show up ready to go!
BBI has yet to do bad guys - Modern or WWII. I hope that's not a TRU thing
It is more clear than ever that the company who comes out with the ZERO is on top of their game. Where for art thou ZERO?
I have a feeling we will see a proto this month.

Another question is that of the "sub-scale" A-10. Was this purposely misleading???? mmmmmm........
Yeah, a Zero would be perfect! That would be a sight to see!

Aight
Well, aviatornut did tell us that the Corsair was around the corner. And, yes, even though it is a redo I am sure it will be cool and I will buy one. I really wished they would have done the Hellcat, but beggers can't be choosers and like digger said, it is good to see bbi still in the game. Also, the guy who owns the militarytoyshop domain and lives in my AO (I think his handle is markxiv) said that a Zero was soon to come. We can only hope that his info is on the ball too. Seeing how the soldiers are about ready for release we need some Japanese equipment.

Badcat has posted pics of the new corsair.

I like the nose art but have never been a fan of the red boarding the star. Nonetheless, another to add to the collection.

Definitley a surprise, that came out of no where. Here's some pics of a real corsair painted up just like this one, I believe it's owned by Tom Duffy from PA. If I'm not mistaken also, this is a BlackSheep Sqaudron plane, so this will go nicely with 21st Century's Pappy's plane. Anyways...here you go.

well, not a late war variant. And they chose to put it in rather obscure markings (from a time frame point of view). The red outlined US markings were only used for a brief period towards the end of '43 IIRC. Not sure that the rockets are appropriate to that time period.
Nice looking bird but i'll have to pass. I have 3 XD corsairs that i'm very happy with, and that's enough. It's nice to see BBI making something, as others have stated, but if all they are ever going to do is copy what 21c has already made then they're pretty much useless.
They made some bold moves with modern stuff....let's see that with WW2 as well! There are still dozens of great choices that will sell very well.

F4U4 or AU 1 ?

Damn it, it doesn't look that great. The detailing is excellent, but what the hell is with the canopy? It looks like garbage. The flaps look cool as hell, too. The rudder is operational..... The knee panels on the gear don't look right at all. This kinda sucks. bbi has the XD version beat on the details, but with the canopy and windshield looking the way it does, it detracts from the whole thing...... Like the P-40 and the P-47, the windshield/canopy dooms the look of the plane. I hope they modify it before release. I might have to pass on this one. Another interesting choice was the dual drop tanks instead of the far more common center line one.......
Slave on the bbi wings to the 21st fuselage and it would look great......
-Ski
ps: Sorry for going off like that, but with all lessons learned, I figured it would be "perfect"......

I'm curious to see the two (XD and BBi) together. Looking at those photos and looking up at the Corsairs hanging above here I'm starting to think XD has them beat on this one. Minus the working flaps and antennas of course. But, I'll have to see the BBi one in person to really tell. And the windshield does look very odd. Looks all fogged up as well. Would be hard for the pilot to see

That BBI Corsair looks awesome! One can find the pics on Bad Cat's site. I like the moving control surfaces and the rockets, and it looks like it will have a nice figure. However, the Corsair is really nothing new - I already have two 21c Corsairs that do not seem to be that significantly different from the BBI version (unlike the 21c vs the BBI P-51) so I will not get this plane.
What ever happened to the BBI Zero?

Wow this came right out of now where gentlemen. But I'm very dissapointed with BBI doing the Corsair I really am. Why did they do a Corsair when 21st has already done enough of them? I just dont get it. They pass on the Hellcat and Zero? Thats a let down.
HOWEVER, this may come in handy to me. Because as someone posted I'm goin to take the wings from the BBI bird and mate them to my 21st Ira Kepford Corsair because I have to say I like the dropped flaps and so fourth.
I hope the pics aint the final product because they messed up the canopy along with other areas as well but it does show that BBI is alive and kicking which is a good thing but the choice for a new release is not. But I'll buy it anyway just for the simple fact is that the wings alone might make my Kepford Corsair even better.
We shall see.

OnWu had an interesting idea about new releases. Maybe they don't want to release a Corsair right after a Zero. A Zero would steal the show. Why not sell it when everyone is hungry for something new. Just a thought...
