Recovering stolen goods from Jerry Napier

Post by billgiff » Wed Mar 11, 2009 12:59 pm

I just received this Email from Lt. Taylor. It seems that he is having some problems finding boxes big enough for the assembled 1/18 planes. He asked me to post this for all. Any suggestions will help. Is anybody available to disassemble the items and ship them for the members :?:

Bill,

Got a favor to ask. If you're still part of the Warbirds forum, can you
post this for me?

--------------------------------
SUBJECT: Shipping Question

I'm looking to ship back these 1:18 scale models via USPS in relation to the
Jerry Napier investigation, and have run into a snag that some of your may
know a work around for. The general dimensions on a 1:18 scale airplane are
such that the only box I've been able to find locally is from UPS (a picture
frame box at 37x30x10)is too big to fit into the 108 inch guideline that the
Postal Service has, and UPS/FedEx shipping is based on dimensions, meaning
that the shipping on the items will be at least 1x the cost of the model,
and in overseas shipping 10x cost.

Does anyone have a good source for 2 boxes that a 1:18 scale airplane would
fit in so I can get these planes returned to their rightful owners?

Please reply to my email below. Thanks!

Tankgirl and I work at a wallpaper warhouse and we might be able to get a few boxes from there. They are about the same size as 1:18 boxes, and if the wings are removed I'd say that they would probally fit perfect. 8) Worth a try.

USPS makes a priority mail box that is around the size 12 x 12 x 8. If you take two of them and put them together they work great. Just seal one end of each. Put the plane in one box. Put the other box upside down on top of the plane. Now you have the plane in two boxes. Just tape the two boxes together in the middle. Then open open back up one end and add packing material. Seal and ship.
