Post All Toy Fair Discussion Here (Military)
south afica and namibia (which gets its chap mei through s.a.) get the chap mei very early, and as im in namibia on business for a few days ill scope out the local shop i know has chap mei, to see if the new stuff is out tomorrow (monday). a good indicator half a year before stuff from c.m. reaches europe is the south african toysrus website, and catalogue, so ill have a look while im here. i have found out some of the names of the vehicles, but have them written down somewhere. the t-72 is the mx cheetah and the aav is the rhino i believe. ill check that when i find the list though. there is also a cobra gunship in the assortment, about gi joe locust scaled.

I found a chap mei forum and there was some interesting news on it. Chap mei is going to try to market soldier force vi hard in the US this year.....which is a change from the other soldier force lines. The main problem is the cost of lab testing.
The pictures posted by Toyark of the aav, wespe etc were apparently not to have been posted. Chap mei has a major problem with knock offs and they don't want their products to be shown generally until they are on the store shelves. Why they would bring this 'top secret' stuff to toy fair, i don't know.
Anyway, in the above link there are some interesting pictures of other chap mei toy lines but nothing for soldier force.
Still it's good news that they are at least trying to bring the soldier force line to north america. I have a feeling the wespe and aav are going to be winners and maybe that cheetah/t-72 thingy too.

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
apparently there is a site, based in russia, where you can buy all the chap mei toy lines, fairly inexpensively. They also have pictures up of the new stuff that's coming out, including the T-72, AAV and Wespe. But i can't ever get the URL to work for the site.
It's www.saks.ru

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really believe 100 percent.

Scroll down the side to "Military Set-6" click on that and you should find the new stuff.
dandy guys, thanks..
ok, according to my calculations, the T-90, as they call it, is just under 12 inches long. So pretty small, around 1/22 scale.
The Wespe is about 10 inches long..... in 1/18 should be 10.5. So not bad, at around 1/19 ish. Probably usable.
The AAV is about 16 inches could be as much as 17 inches long.... in 1/18 should be 17.75. So again, not bad but a bit small at around 1/19-1/20 scale. Use at your discretion.
I think they will both be too narrow though, as the package depth isn't near enough to accomodate a properly wide vehicle. So they may be too narrow in proportion to their length, is what i'm saying.
Personally, i'm probably going to snag the AAV and Wespe as i doubt we'll ever get another chance in 1/18.

From the back of the box pic the Grizzley (which is the Wespe look alike) looks to be stumpier than i thought. So while bulk wise it may be ok it will be a wheel short i think. Still may be useful by grafting two together or just using a heavy dose of foilage to help hide the fact...or putting it in a pit, like was often dug for wespes.
I think the AAV will still be quite good though..
