BBi "FUTURE" Line

Post by bluesparrow » Sat Jun 25, 2005 2:55 am

Hello, this is my first post but I've been reading your forum for a while because I'm extremely fond of the BBi 1:18 scale Elite Force figures. They have their problems(their leg articulation makes posing difficult) but their extremely fine sculpting and attention to detail have made me a big fan of theirs. I've slowly been buying up the figures at my TRU. I don't really have enough room for the vehicles due to collecting other lines(Star Wars, Marvel Legends, etc) but their vehicles seem extraordinary as well.

Well I was poking around for info on BBi's upcoming product in the 1:18 scale, and came upon this article: http://www.figures.com/databases/action ... rticle=178

It concerns a line BBi unveiled at last Fall's Toy Fair of a futuristic military line of figures and vehicles.

Basically I've come to you guys since this seems to be the best message board for information regarding BBi and other 1:18 military lines(and I scoured the web) and if anyone would know, you would. I've asked around on other toy boards but no one seems to know anything.

I take it as something of a bad sign that this line was not shown at this Spring's Toy Fair(or at the very least, not allowed to be photographed) but I love the look and style of these figures and cannot wait to get them in my greedy hands.

Here's more pictures from the Fall Toy Fair event:

Pretty much the only things known are what Figures.com posted about... That it was a futurstic military toy line they had come up with on their own and kitbashed figures for...

If it DID come about, I wouldn't expect what the Toy Fair pics of it are to be really TOO close to the final result, namely because it was kitbashed using a lot of Star Wars figures... I'd expect something more, but the point was kinda made what it'd be like.

I was all for the line but nothing new has been said. Then again, in this scale and with these 2 companies (21st and BBI), nothing is said very often and when it IS said it's rarely backed up with actions. :) Not to knock either company too much, they do excellent work, but both are a little "slow" for most people's tastes.

Now Hasbro, make us some Head Sculpt & Endor Uniform variations! The new Rebel Fleet Trooper gets the JJ Seal of Approval Though!

As said, those were just mock-ups you could do with what you have on the market already - they were not protoypes. Don't worry that they were not shown at Toy Fair - they did not show much at all.

I wouldn't hold my breath for those because we have been waiting for their WWII figures since the same time and the WWII guys seemed to be "much farther along" in the production, with card backs and all. BBI is notoriously secret and paranoid  :| about their product and release dates so don't be too concerned with their silence - it's how they do business. They are not a small family run company concerned with the collector base - they are a huge toy company that doesn't care that they showed you those figures and now has nothing to say about them.

No offense, but I hope they were not wasting time with those sci-fi guys instead of working on the WWII figures to accompany the plane & tank they released. All we have heard is that the WWII guys "may" arrive in August. I sure hope so.....
They have also shown 1:18 Knights in Armor type stuff, also of no interest to me but I know it is to some.....
