This thread is literally overflowing I see. :) I'm gonna go on a limb and assume not much was shown, if anyone was even there. Bummer.

Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?

looks like a wespe but from the figure near it, it looks pretty small.

The only thing in the chap mei line up that has a chance of being useful is the AAV, i think. Need out of the box pictures of it. Of course i'll never be able to find it anyway, so i don't know why i even bother.

Looks like it would almost pass as a Marder II.

Marder III...38(t) chassis.

it's bad, I mean really base quality wise, I wouldn't buy it, but yea who ever was designing had the big book of armour open and thought a Marder III would make a cool toy.

Although the gun would need to be replaced with a Pak40, new wheels, that spare sprocket would need to be removed(one it's blocking the driver's viewport), and tweeked to turn into a better looking Marder, but I could be done.

Tracks might be from the III, but the overall body looks like a II to mine eyes.

Say what you will, but at least Chap Mei is always coming up with interesting stuff. Perfect for their target audience.

From what I can see it looks as if this was based on the Marder. I think it may have 5 road wheels one to many for the Marder.
Are these out or coming out?

Looks like Toy Fair is a bust for the military toys.....

Toy Fair

Post by lightning2000 » Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:03 am

Hi,
I toured Toy Fair yesterday and didnt see much to warrant a discussion. A lot of past exhibitors werent even in attendance (21st, Minichamps, Dragon, etc.) and those that I did see, werent showing much of anything that hasnt already been discussed.

Having said that, that doesnt mean toy companies wont be introducing addtional stuff throughout the year. A lot of it hinges upon timing, the effects of the downturn in the economy, competitive advantages, etc.

Cordially,

I think it's the Vespa version of the Wespe...

Hey Lightning,

Did Unimax have the 1/18th LAV25 on display? What about the delta force figures?

From what I've seen on Unimax's website, It looks like they are improving their 1:18 figure quality. I just hope they have some more WWII product in the works.

Perhaps BBI has something up their sleeve. Their last batch of Paratroopers, are some of the best 1:18 WII Action figures, I've seen.

Check out toy-ark later tonight should have plenty of pics from FOV
I am also checking with my contacts to see if BBi has a table set up there as well.

i think it's clearly based on the Wespe....the gun even looks pretty good.

But as i said, i think it's miles too small.

Maybe Unimax will purchase the 21st Molds. I'd really love to see the Panzer IV again, in some form.

Aferguson, I think your correct, if I see one at TRU I'll pick one up. The scale may be a problem.

the AAV doesn't look too bad, upon closer inspection. Needs to be nearly 18 inches long; by my calcs it's 16 and change, with a lot of guess work....it may be stumpier than i hope it is.

That would be pretty cool though, if we got an AAV and a Wespe out of chap mei this year.

well, not much to talk about in what has to be, from our perspective, the worst toy fair ever.

A small glimmer of hope from chap mei, but otherwise, bupkis.

I was hoping FOV would be expanding the Bravo Team line but it appears to be not doing much of anything, with just another re-hash coming out, the LAV 25.

The two chap mei vehicles with some potential, the wespe and AAV may signify our hope for the future in this hobby, armour-wise, at least in the short term. Both vehicles look to have some potential and may be close to scale.

Admiral seems to be delightfully alive, though so far just seem to be interested in doing aircraft.

There is of course, our handy dandy customizers.

Looks like 2009 is the year to finish all of those custom projects stacked up in the office. Time to really learn how to use my airbrush and how to weather aircraft.
