Toy Liquidation Destinations
Toy Liquidation Destinations
I was wondering where the big box toy retailers dump their product after the "closeout" price sales are conducted in their own stores. I do see Target toys in Marshall's and TJMaxx. But where do Walmart, Toys R Us, and others send their castoffs? With proper recon there may be better 21st Century bargains waiting for us.

I have seen some of the same stuff that KB toys tried to clearance after they folded show up at Big Lots already.
It was some RC trucks that I in fact bought one for my son for $14.00. About two weeks later I see the same trucks at Big Lots for $30 and you could see where the KB Sticker had been.

Is that you John Wayne, this is me!!
a lot of it used to go to KayBee but now that they're gone I'd have to guess Biglots as well. Target stuff shows up a Goodwill, though usually for more than original retail it seems. I'm half convinced that WM and TRU just let most of it rot on the shelves until it's completely trashed then write it off as destroyed and toss it in the garbage.

Toy Liquidators was another name for the KB Toys outlet stores. I've been wondering the same thing about where liquidation merchandise was going to go since KB has closed up. I guess I'll have to start checking the Big Lots a little more often.immeww2 wrote:I think some of the stuff makes to the outlet centers. I used to visit a shop called Toy Liquidators that were in several outlet malls. Don't know if they're still around since I haven't been to an outlet mall in years.

WM tends to be willing to do their own liquidations, as sending toys out is a cost unto itself, and WM remains fairly independant if they can. Target generally tries to do this as well...
Family Dollar, Dollar General, Big Lots, Marshall's, Tuesday Morning, TJ Maxx, etc. are all places I've found "liquidated" merchandise... Most recently TJ Maxx here got Indiana Jones toys, but those were direct from Hasbro according to what I've heard... Not from another retailer.
KB Toys, and Toys R Us, bought direct from Hasbro when Hasbro did a large liquidation in 1998... TRU hasn't done anything like that since and really I never noticed KB getting too much in either before they went under. Those days were insane though, the ammount of product that surfaced at those stores.

If you're referring to Monkey Depot, AN, I don't think they're liquidating anything but their own stock... I'm still not buying that it's 21st dumping their warehouse through them yet. I've seen nothing to indicate that personally... I know there was some speculation on it, but I'm skeptical.

The biggest indication to me that MD is definitely liquidating 21st's stock for them is MD always keeps their Website up to date with product. I shop their a lot and Brady and the gang add stuff as they get it. Now if they were just selling off their stuff cheap then they would sell it and then it would be gone, but as we have seen they have gotten new stuff in since the sale begun. They actualy have a lot more then when they started. Will we see more?? Maybe. Maybe not. But they did not just happen to find 1000 plus large 1/18 planes and tanks in their warehouse. I really doubt their warehouse is even very big since they are a fairly small operation that sells mostly 1/6 stuff boxed and parted out. I'd say 21st is either selling it to MD VERY cheap to get rid of inventory or they are paying MD comision to sell it for them.

I disagree 21C has or had a warehouse in AZ and thier stock lists are very slim at this point. i also see the same available items showing up at MD. Ive sold 21C for 4 years now. not the whole line but i get a monthly stock list and there is very little on it. but all the items MD has are the last remaining items 21C shows in stock. aswell as the fact that Md is selling for more than 50% off wholesale. so they must be buying for even less. i cant imagine paying wholesale and then deciding to sell for 50-60-70% of just to dump stock. atleast you think they would sell at cost?Jesse James wrote:If you're referring to Monkey Depot, AN, I don't think they're liquidating anything but their own stock... Im pretty sure they have deal with 21C. even if its true 21C is pretty quiet when it comes to deals.so MD would never admitit. and frankly i wouldnt if i was getting those deals.

Another place that gets liquidation merchandise is Bealls Outlet but they are only located in FL, GA and AZ.Jesse James wrote:WM tends to be willing to do their own liquidations, as sending toys out is a cost unto itself, and WM remains fairly independant if they can. I was in a TJ Maxx yesterday and they had the IJ trucks for $12 if anyone's interested. They also had the Jungle Cutter for the same price. And for those that might not check the WM Finds sticky at the top of this forum, XD figures have been showing up in the clearance isle at WM for $1 each.

Def liquidating 21C stuff I'm afraid.Jesse James wrote:If you're referring to Monkey Depot, AN, I don't think they're liquidating anything but their own stock... It looks like even the KBtoys.com website is closed now. All returns go to the following address:
Toys Distribution Center
200 Toy Lane
Blairs, VA 24527
I bet there's an auction there at some point in the near future. If anyone is nearby they should do some recon on it.
