FOV 2009 CATALOGUE
FOV 2009 CATALOGUE
Saw a 2009 FOV Catalogue in central London yesterday. At over £5.00 I felt it was somewhat expensive so had a flick through instead. Nothing new in 1/72 as far as I could see. But in 1/32 they are producing an early war StuG III (short 75mm) and a KV-1 which is something a bit different.

IS 3 would be pointless from a WWII perspective as they saw action only against the japanese right in the final days of the conflict (maybe). Nice looking tank but post war applications only.
A KV-1 is a big surprise.....i didn't think they would make that but good to see. Maybe a 1/18 version will happen one day.
And i'm sure you'll see a JS 2 eventually, if they're doing a KV-1 that's a logical next new russian tank.

Well they produced the Pershing which only saw very limited use in the last days of the war in Europe and the same in the Pacific. Most of it's actions were postwar as well. It really doesn't matter to me, I'd be more than happy with an IS-2 which were at the head of the advance into Berlin and appear in many pictures taken by the Soviets during and after the battle.aferguson wrote:IS 3 would be pointless from a WWII perspective as they saw action only against the japanese right in the final days of the conflict (maybe). Recon Report
Hi,
Great recon report Greycap. Thanks for sharing. Personally, I think a KV-1 tank would make for an excellent addition to their 1:32 scale range. We'll likely see it in summer green, winter white, camoed, etc. I'd think a more robust KV-2 could be the next logical step, but then again, I've been outguessed.
An early war Stug III is a fine addition, although I'd have prefered any number of other vehicles such as a Chi-Ha, Semovente, M-10/18/36 etc.
See any new aircraft, helos, ships, etc in the brochure?

* KV-1 / JS-II
* This is great news ! *
... If it's not bulls**t .
......... I'd love to see FoV make a KV-1 or JS-II in 1:32nd. scale.
... It's about time they did something new & exciting w/ this series , as I hoped they would , 4-yrs. ago , w/ the exception of the Elefant of course , but the Deuce on the other hand , was expected yrs. ago too.

I would much prefer the KV-1 to any of the JS series, not that I would be disappointed with either though...

Pershing?
Hello Gary,
Reading between the lines, my guess is that going forward, Unimax, the makers of the FOV line, will be releasing products to fill a theme rather than a haphazzard shotgun approach. My guess is that they are reintroducing the 1:32 Abrams to serve as the focal point for either a Desert Storm or Iraqi Freedom Commemorative Series, more likley the former rather than the latter, since OIF is still being waged. I could be wrong, but that's my sense.
Furthermore, you 'might' see a Battle of the Bulge commemorative series, in which case a Pershing can be expected, or say, a Battle of Kursk or Operation Barbarossa commemorative series, in which case the KV-1 would likely dovetail nicely.
Believe you me, I would like nothing better than to see the Pershing again, perhaps the most requested vehicle to be re-introduced. They could even paint it the same olive drab and just stencil on new markings...
