i know this is a common thing among 1/18 aircraft but it's funny i didn't even notice til i put the pilot in the cockpit. No biggy..just surprising.
Is the AT sabre the same?

i never met an airplane i didn't like...
The 21st Century F-86 pilot is riding high in the saddle compared to 21st Century's 1/32 P-47 Thunderbolt pilot---he's sitting in the World War II prototype of the La-Z-Boy recliner.
On both the F-86 and P-47, I had to glue the pilots onto a stack of wadded-up cardboard or coins to get their heads high enough to be seen.

no.....f-86 canopy is way too big. I was comparing it to photos of the real thing. I figure the canopy is about 1/15 scale.

It's necessary to easily fit the pilot figure in and get it out and close the canopy. On real Sabres the pilot had to duck a bit when closing the canopy. The seat is a smidgen low i guess but not bad. The canopy is like a cathedral ceiling above him though..
To be honest, i kind of like the look, for some reason.....same with the Hellcat and Thunderbolt. I like the look of the oversize canopies.

It's funny that it's so unnoticable. I've looked at the Sabre dozens of times and had no idea. I didn't notice the Thunderbolt's canopy a few years ago either until Ski pointed it out. Then i started realizing that virtually all the plane canopies are oversized...but i'd kinda forgotten. But i still like the look......
