BBI Dauntless wing insert problem

Post by dragon53 » Fri Jan 02, 2009 3:34 pm

I just got my BBI SBD Dauntless and F4F Wildcat. I had no problems inserting the Wildcat's wings or the Dauntless' right wing. But I can't insert the Dauntless' left wing...(looking at the left wing from the front, I assume the blue tab is supposed to be facing slightly up).

Any suggestions on how to insert the left wing without breaking the Dauntless?

Haven't opened my F4F yet..I hope I don't have any issue like that or hopefully it's just a easy fix. But I do like my first US 1/32 plane hope BBi keeps in the 1/32 field in 2009

although I would have loved the F4F more back in the day when I played 1942:Pacific Air War, but now it's still a awesome looking little plane.

Hi Dragon:

I seem to remember my right wing going harder than the left one, but they do fit tightly. I just pushed really hard with a nice firm grip on the plane and it eventually snapped into place. The structure of both aircraft is pretty strong so I don't think you'd break it doing that. Once in, the fit nice and firm, I had to take one of the planes apart recently and i had to pull like crazy to get the wings back out.

I think I also wiggled and wriggled them in, not sure anymore. Wish I could be more help

Don't try to insert the wind straight on, I mean try working the lower tabs into the middle wing section, then lift the wing and try to work the top tabs in. It is kind of hard to get the wing on, but the middle section of the wing is really tough.

It's been a long road, but I am still in the game. :)

GUYS:

Thanks. I finally got it in...after almost an hour and broke off both bomb racks. Now I remember why I hate putting BBI planes together---everything is too tight.
