San Diego ComicCon hotel Q?

Post by Bravo_26 » Thu Jun 09, 2005 9:46 am

Can someone recommend a place to stay near the covention center that has a pool & internet access, and is in decent walking distance, or someplace that has great access to the center w/o renting a car?

I'm going and I will take many pics. I hope to display them on this site each night while I am there in order to help cover the XD/bbi section.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunatly, all hotels near the convention center are booked. I'm thinking of driving (but I don't live far from there). The nearest hotels you can probably find right now are in the downtown area, but that's a long ways away (past the airport).

I was able to book a room for 71.10 per night at the Super 8 motel @ 425 Roosevelt Ave. National City, CA

Got the best rate @ CheapTickets.com

Its about 4 miles southeast from the convention center. I called the hotel... you can walk 4 blocks and pick up the trolly train that will drop you off right at the center.

I don't know about internet access @ the hotel.

I am looking forwrd to San Diego.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!

I'll be there to photograph the 21st and BBi stuff as I did last year as well. I'm not sure how many days I'll be going, but I will probably just drive unless I can find a place to stay near by with some friends.

If you cannot get a Hotel next to the Convention Center, the next closest would be any Hotel in the downtown area. These would all be in walking distance of the Convention center. just ask the Hotel clerk how many blocks from the Convention Center. And the Gaslamp quarter in downtown is a lively nightspot with a big variety of restaurants.
If the above two don't work out, I would recommend a location next to a trolley station such as Old Town or Mission Valley (Hotel circle).
Next would be the Sheraton next to the airport. It doesn't have trolley service, so you would need to use the bus, but the hotel has a great location right on the edge of the bay.
I would not recommend staying south of downtown.
Best of Luck in your search!

All the downtown hotels are full at this point I've heard.

Thanks everyone! I've been searching all sorts of places online. Even if I have to shell out 200.00/night I'm still on my way! Looks like P51 & I will be broadcasting photos so there will be lots to see - hopefully not the usual suspects.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions!
