To get 21st back on their feet again in the 1:18 market, they could modify the P-51D with a minimal of tooling to make a P-51B and C.
Come right out of the gate with the most killer paint job for this model. IMHO "Shangri La"
Skyworks has already proven this can be done.
My second choice of aircraft is the P-40E.
Perhaps though I need to check, has anyone ever done a modification on a P-40B into a P-40E?
Is it even possible, and are the fuselages close to the same length? I know the N is a little longer, but can the cowling area and the canopy along with some small areas of fuselage on the P-40B be modified for a P-40E?
If they could do that also.
Again come right out of the gate with the best paint job for it. My favorite would be the U.S Army Aleutians tiger.
With a minimum of expense for tooling, they could put both these planes sooner than other aircraft with total new tooling.
They can also do this to the Spitfire to later models and even a tropical desert version with the modified lower cowling.
I would have voted a Hurricane, but Skyworks has already done an excellent one that I want to get first. I don't want to rain on their parade for all the effort to make such an amazing example of a whole new tooled airplane, not a modified 21st Century one.

I for one would like a P-39 or Wildcat. It would be nice to have a few T-34s as well. $49 to $69 would be a perfect price for it. FOV made the Tiger 1 it would have been easier to make the T-34. But I guess German stuff is more popular.
The other option is to do a custom job. How much would be too much to pay ?

Ok, if I have to pick an absolutely new sculpt , no retooling of existing planes for later or earlier models, which some great customizers have already done outstanding jobs on, I'm going to narrow it down to:
.....wait, I'm torn between a P-39, Typhoon or Tempest.
(cool link for the Tempest btw)
I'm going to stay with the Deuce and 1/2 for my armor choice.
It's cab and modified chassis can be made into several different trucks, from a fuel tanker to staff car to airplane crane, ambulance, etc. all kinds of vehicles in Army and Navy (Wheeler Field) colors.

Well, I think that the discussion is good, but everyone should be limited to one piece of armor and one aircraft.
After careful consideration my final selections are:
Aircraft:
P-39
So many different paint schemes for this one also. I guess it's the highest scoring "kills" American built aircraft of WWII, even though flown by a Russian for that achievement. I would love to see a Russian markings P-39, and even a Makin Island version, not to mention all the US Army versions we could get.
I almost voted for a Typhoon, but there are not as many paint variations.
Armor:
Deuce 1/2
