Amazingly, I found the S2 Hetzer today at the Visalia, CA Wal Mart. This is a bit out of my normal area, but as I was doing research at Visalia's library earlier in the day, I thought it wouldn't hurt to stop by the Wal Mart and I got lucky. Finding the Hetzer when they seem to be somewhat rare was a real treat, but the best part was that they were discounted to $9

The MG may be blistered on the inside of the box. Ask the seller.

I don't think the paint scheme is historically accurate but it does look darn good to me. I will be on the lookout for this one. Not too keen on the S2 Marder though; it looks like a child's paint job.

I've never been one for historically accurate paint jobs and enjoyed painting my own models for years. Now I like to repaint. I want MY models to be unique and I figure that after a few weeks of weathering and touch ups most of the "real things" were no longer 'historically accurate' themselves.

actually, I was trying to find the pic in one of my armor camo plate books that I originally posted in another thread when someone questioned the authenticity of this camo scheme. It had the location and date division etc. It was brown and tan plus the pattern was much closer. It also had dead branches with leaves on it
this one i found with an online image search. I don't know why i can't find or where that original image is, i erased it off photobucket

What is accurate the last year of the war many tanks and guns were shipped with just a base coat. they put gallons of paint inside depending on which front it was going to. leaving it to the crew to do the final painting. So many patterns and camoflage types emerged.

I have found a similar camo job, also a drawing, on the back page of "Squadron/signal publications ARMOR NO. 19, PzKpfw 38(t) in action"
It has leaves on it, the roof mg and the picture title is: "JgPz 38(t) HETZER, Western front, late Autumn 1944. Unit unknown; several divisions which fought in the West had HETZERs in service."
I'll try to post a picture.

As you can see the camo isn't excatly the same but it is quite similar. Maybe the artist just had extra browns left over from something else.
