Wow - it's looking good! Looks like they may have deleted the Sidwewinders? Still it's looking beautiful in 1/18 glory with Phoenix and Sparrows.

Now I just have to decide if foregoing $200 towards a 21C 88 and AT A-1 is worth one 1/18 F-14. Well, since I could be waiting until this time next year for new 21C and AT products, what do I have to lose (besides $200 of course : )

the f-14 has a swing wing mechanism, so you could hang it and with the remote control swing the wings back and forth. Or you could fly the thing and swing the wings back and forth.

I'm just going to display mine though. Sidewinders you could get from a 21c F-104 and mod them a bit.

for those interested: the company that makes the 1/18-ish r/c B-25 is coming out with a gun nose version next year. So you'll be able to get either a glass nose version (with 10 guns) which is the one available now or a gun nose version next year sometime. I imagine when the gun nose comes out production will stop on the glass nose version and these things tend to dry up pretty fast and be hard to find once production is done.

For those that want both, you'll have one to parafrag your 1/18 japanese airfields with and another to skip bomb that 1/18 japanese destroyer you've been working on.

They are also going to be making a night fighter version of their 1/15.5 Ju-88.

other vendors will pop up in the US but the usually don't offer airframe only and thus the plane is a lot more expensive.

I usually do not like the foam plane.. i saw the f15 and it was ok... but the f14 i will get.. these are nice..

it's a radio controlled aircraft. Made from a material much like styrofoam. Comes prepainted, with decals. Cost will probably be about $200 ish. Wings swing back and forth. It's almost exactly 1/18 scale.

Thanks, I am kind of just getting into 1/18 and wasnt to familier with this one. Not too bad of a price but I wonder what the detail is like.

it will be variable. There will be most panal lines scribed, at least the major ones. This one comes with a fair bit of ordnance, which is very unusual for r/c planes.

Cockpit will be virtually empty. Just a properly shaped hole and a molded seat back probably.

From close up the foam texture will be noticable (like the surface of a styrofoam cup) and it will probably look a bit undetailed. I regard these foamy planes as stand off models. You hang them up, back away 5 feet or so and admire. Doing it that way they look pretty good.

It's not like we have a choice between a bbi Tomcat and this one. It's this one or a blank space...

The one big plus is that r/c planes are very light. So there are no problems hanging it easily anywhere you choose.

well, coincidentally, the skyworks r/c F-14 is now for sale. $190 for the airframe only (which is all you need for display).

I guess i'll be holding off to see if the JSI F-14 is for real as that would clearly be the way to go; although i suspect it will cost more than the r/c one. The r/c version will also be quite light, not like the plaster cracker the JSI one will no doubt be..
