S2 1/32 Hetzer
I have tons of the Hedi Marders here around me at all targets, also the camo t38 and the focke wulf and camo sherman (Chinese infantry, arty soldiers etc.) sometime the double nuthin pops up too. I could send you one, they are varying in price from store to store with marders/t38 ranging from 17-19 dollars, shipping probably around 6-8

Oh we have them, I just never got around to buying one until today. I picked one up, and I really like it. Of all the stuff that's at my Targets and Wal-Marts, I just need to get the Sherman playset, the artillery crew and the camo 38t. I picked up all of the old releases that had shown up. So now since my birthday's on the 15th, I'll just stick it out until then. I created a whole list of things I want for my dad to go through a pick a couple of things and suprise me.
I'm praying I get a Dauntless most of all.

I've only seen the 1/48 Marders. Never seen a 1/32 in over a dozen NC WMs and TrUs.

It seems very strange that the S2 Hetzer is in Targets and on ebay (apparently for several months) and yet dealers don't even know they exist, much less able to get any. How come Bad Cat, The Motor Pool, Fox Hole Toys, etc., can't get any of these. Are they just too stocked up on S1 to even think about getting some S2's? Question goes for any S2 products. Why are they not being offered to dealers?

My understanding is that 21C simply hasn't been sending much to the hobby shops and I didn't even know that they were still supplying Target at all.

eBay doesn't surprise me at all.
Find something fairly rare at Target (or WM or TrU) and put it up on eBay. be the only one in town. 21C distribution has always been spotty and WM has always been worse. Items on clearance at one store are hotcakes or never received at all at a store 25 miles away.

Its those darn Four Star Military releases which Target has deliberately avoided releasing in my AO to spite me for using so many $5 off $25 coupons ruining their PNL.ltcbj wrote:I didn't know that any 21C is at Target.

1:32 S2 Schemes
Hi,
Its P&L (profit and loss) not PNL.
In a nutshell, the manufacturer hasnt offered any of the S2 schemes to the hobby shops/ etailers. We'd love to sell them, but they have to be offered to us first. Same goes for the latest 1:144 scale equipment, 1:32 artillery figures, etc. Dont know how their distribution works when it comes to big box retailers vs. the smaller merchants.
Happy holidays!

I wouldn't be the least surprised if Wal Mart just doesn't buy whatever comes off the boat and then just randomly distributes it to whatever stores are a bit short on toys.

Wal-Mart
Hi,
I dunno about that. If you've ever watched CNBC's expose on Wal-Mart, first aired a couple of years ago, they tout themselves as having one of the most sophisticated distribution systems ever devised. I think there's just too many variables to consider that will allow you to come up with an answer that applies to every piece of merchandise they carry and where and when its sold.
If, for instance, they ordered 25,000 pieces of an item, and only 5,000 pieces arrive initially, then its up to their buyers, merchandise managers and distribution system to determine where it should be allotted. Were I to make that decision, it would likely be shipped to the most profitable regions of the country, where the impact of a downturned economy could be lessened somewhat and hopefully reap the highest margins. No sense sending a non-essential item to a region that might not have the disposable income to purchase it.

I suspect that on a store by store basis, for instance, they first send toys to the stores that sell toys fastest.
But the buyers/distributors really don't know much from one 21C item to the next and probably don't break up pallets, certainly not boxes, so one store may get a surfeit of a particular item while others never see it at all.
I do know that WM usually sells items itself before the manufacturer has been paid for them.

That's pretty much industry standard, at least as far as big box retailers go, unless they've filed for bankruptcy protection. In most cases, the retailer is afforded terms, usually payment within 30 days of invoicing.I do know that WM usually sells items itself before the manufacturer has been paid for them.
Years ago, when I was a buyer for a toy distributor, terms were generally December 10th for an opening order, meaning you got the merchandise in September but didnt have to pay for them until December 10th. In some instances, it was net 90, if you had a strong relationship with a manufacturer.
In any event, imagine if a company the size of a Wal-Mart decided, for whatever reason, they didnt want to pay you according to the terms specified. By putting all your eggs into one basket, you could be in for a rude awakening if the retailer sits on your money which leads to cash flow problems.
An issue such as this could literally put a small manufacturer out of business unless they could arrange for a bridge loan or some other means of payment until the issue was resolved....

I just wish distribution were simpler, and everyone got an equal amount, at around the same time. It's simple. Less items would rot on the shelves too. It may be the most advanced in the world or whatever, but apparently they could do better with a simpler more evenly distributed system. I don't see any particular advantage with this glorious system, at least not in our hobby. We have the most random occurences and it's quite annoying.
I'd love it if one day if everyone on the forums found the same release on the same day, that would be something. That would speak of damn fine distribution.
Target is like that as well, some have sales and clearance things out, and others have totally different things. It sucks.

Apparently this haphazard system works for the big retailers who employ it. One store gets a ton of something that they eventually have to discount to get rid of while 100 miles away another store has customers clamoring for that item. So the first store sells out and the customers who came looking buy other things anyway.

ive found that if you can talk to the toy manager and they are willing they will order in extras of certain 21c items. for example when i started hearing of the double nuthin i asked if she could order some more in. she didnt have control on specific plane types just assortments. so she ordered 2 assortments of 21c 1/32 planes (each asst. is 4 planes) out of that i got 3 double nuthins. the products need to be in the WM sku numbers. which today isnt easy since they have been phasing out 21c stuff.

I think the phasing out (if it is in fact happening) is/may be store specific. I've been in one store that looks as if they were, been in another that was loaded for rabid consumers of 21C....

I haven't seen much at TrUs either.
and No, I haven't seen 1/18 at WM but they do seem to be stocking the 1/32, 1/48 and 1/144s. Haphazardly, but they are there.
Perhaps it is only the 1/18 that they are cutting down on.

Agreed. I don't see much 1/18 except for figures. But the 1/32, 1/48 and 1/144 I see plenty of. Except one Wal-Mart, which has about a one foot wide section of 21st.
My main WM however, has a big area and is stocked to the gills. Lots of armor variety. That was where I first saw the old stock pop up.

S2 Hetzer
I still don't think the S2 Hetzer is for sale. Besides Bruzzer's sighting (which did not explain what scale or have pics) and Cabe's picture (which again scale cannot be ascertained) there has been no real evidence offered besides the fact that online retailers didn't get them. Cabe's pic could've been 21st's sole S2 that they take with them to shows and stuff, a one-of-a-kind. I have looked for eBay auctions, pics, anything, even scoured the Phoenix area hobby shops (there are lots) looking for one of these babies, but no luck. I want to believe, but I just don't get that impression from what I'm seeing here.
