differences

Post by supersonicfifi » Thu Jun 02, 2005 3:07 pm

it s funny i read alot of magazines either US or English magazin and of course French ones and i cant help notice the differences in treatment between the 3 futurs jet F22 - Eurofighter and Rafale each country tend to present its own product fairly and denigrate the other (maybe in fact only the F22 stand out in a class on its own) i fell in this trend 2 years ago when the English AIR FORCE MONTHLY organized a price for the best name to the EUROFIGHTER now TYPHOON : i sent the appropriate name : RAFALE - LOL  typicaly FRENCH ! thanksp51 for the skyraider picture this one could be a top seller because the paint is amazing - you can hang so much underside - this model is based in France and could be a hit here at airshows !

I would like a few "UGLY", modern planes. How about an A-6E, S-3 or of course, an A-10? I'll take any kind of helo as well. On second thought, if its a 1/18 scale aircraft, I'll take it.

A-10, Me-110, B-25, B-26

Those bad boys could convert me to a plane guy.

I pre-order an Avenger over a year ago and I'm still waiting and I gotta say I can't hold my breath much longer.

The only way we're seeing an A-10 is in 1:21 scale.....
But seriously, that plane will be 2 & 1/2 feet long and almost 3 feet wide - how many people aren't going to maybe grab one? Huh? Maybe :) Yea, you might....If you have a 1:30 F-18 by PTE than you know what I'm saying..... :D

Since we're in Fantasyland, let's have some fun. And if I could just have one (besides the Zero), I would say an SR-71 or MiG-21.

WWII
DeHavilland Mosquito
B-17
Zero
Avenger

Cold War
Bell X-1
X-15
F86 Sabre
Hind
SR-71
MiG-21
MiG-29
SU-27

Modern
F-22

Don't count out seeing an A-10 in 1/18 scale. 21st has produced one already. I think that with time and enough encouragement, one will be put out there in 1/18 for us. BBI or 21st.

Purely fantasy, I'd love a B-29.

For something more possible, the Skyraider gets my vote. Would help round out the XD Viet Nam line. Of course, so would an F-4, or an A-6, or an A-7.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see one, but I say you will see around 10 planes before you see that. Maybe if the Me-110 sells like hot cakes down the line they will be encouraged to go with it. I don't think people realize how much bird an A-10 is. You can't just look at wingspan and length - I think the thing would be over a foot tall, and just a whole lotta plastic 8) Just boxing that thing would be interesting  . I'd be surprised if bbi makes another in 1/18 after they make a HUGE one in 1/21.

The guys who should be excited are the extreme wings fans. This line is obviously taking off and is a better platform for 21st to try less popular or BIGGER birds. It also seems like a test market for 1:18 and that is why I always contend they will get a Zero before 1/18. I also say the first Russian, French & Italian birds all land first in 1/32. Lastly, I'm predicting our first multi-engine bomber in 1/32.....I might even have to get that one

Supposedly bbi will release a 1/21 scale A-10 next month that will be more for kids and less for "us" :? While I rather a nice 1/18 scale model I think many people will settle for 1/21 - it will be HUGE.
Power Team Elite makes a tiny, lousy F-18 that is so underscale that I said 1/30 - who knows what it actually is.
The 1/32 line of airplanes are at stores here in the States, at some small retailers (BCA), and on ebay! :D The 1/32 scale has Me-262, and will soon have a Zero, and other countries' fighters as well (I suspect).

Nope, no photos as of yet. I'd laugh if they release a full 1:18 scale A-10. You never know if they are doing the "false information to mislead the competition" sort of thing. 1:21 just doesn't sound right. It doesn't fit any reasoning at all. It's not like bbi is putting out PTE sort of stuff. I'd wait to see on this one......

i ve just bought a vietnam F100 "dick Rutan" from matchbox (1:72) and it would kick ass in our favourite scale !!!! (i ma flightsim nuts and ther is a game called strike fighter Wings Over Vietnam and you can fly thos F104; F 100; F8 and others PHANTOM unbelivieble !)

You just might be right about the F-100. The two Matchbox ones were either sparsely distributed or sold out quickly at Target stores (probably some of both). I know with the first release of the Matchbox F-104 and F-100, I only saw them at one Target store and then only once! They are on ebay and usually sell for more that the retail price, and sometimes 2-3 times as much.

What I am trying to point out here is that there is an element of popularity for these early jets, lots of repaint possibilities, and they just look darn good! Word is that we are going to see a 1:18 F-86, Mig-15 and ME-262 from 21c this year (or probably two years from now) and I think 21c may just be surprised by how well those sell!!

The BBI A-10 that's coming out as a Target exclusive is not 1/21. From the quoted dimensions it's about 1/28. It has push button sound effects and is just a toy.

Oh...
Let's hope Ski is right and that it's a misinformation campaign.....after all, they can't call it Elite Force in that case (or use the "real as it gets" packaging) and that was what was asked about (or not?).....but that would be real misleading to Dirk who had it on his sight as 1:18, no?

It's not being called Elite Force either. It's being marketed under another brand name.

BBI is a giant company with many diverse product lines. Elite force, both 1/6 and 1/18 is only a teeny tiny portion of what they do. It is highly unlikely this is disinformation... merely a disappointment.

However, that's not to say they won't (or aren't) making an Elite Force 1/18 scale A-10 as well. We've just heard nothing concrete about it at all yet.

This 1/18 lull from BBI has me concerned about their future plans in 1/18 but i figure it may not be a big deal since 21c has been pretty quiet for the passed few months as well and they have lots of great plans for 1/18.

So this lull may be just 'one of those things' and caused by a variety of reasons; not the least of which is the huge number of Star Wars toys taking up shelf space right now..

Let's hope they do the A-10 as Elite Force at some point...it would be the biggest gamble yet by them due to sheer size.....
Btw, Elite Force is MOST of what bbi is, it's just not most of what Blue Box is.

 I hear you - just saying that the real money makers for them are licensed products made by the Parent - no matter how many planes we buy we can't compete with Hello Kitty. :?
BBI has limited products, and imo Elite Force is the only real winner (Cy Girls? Maybe. ). I just can't believe they would take our 1/18 scale world by storm and then walk away....I can't help but think something is in the pipes....as you guys said, the problem is flushing it out.... :o
