A work in progress, just the basecoat and camo scheme applied so far. I think it's looking pretty sweet. More to come. what do you guys think...??

Thanks for the compliments guys, I think it's looking very nice indeed. I should let everyone know, the tank is mine, but the paintwork is being done to my specs by our very own Cabe, he's been a pleasure to work with and I'm very pleased with the results, check out these updated pics, the finished Stug is going to be sweet..

Oh, and Yox.. yes I thought about adding skirts, I would like to eventually do a custom StuH 42 based on this model, and it would include the skirts. Click to enlarge...

yes, it has been a long time with moving and my first child being born then getting ill....
I have this one for OstKitten and a Pz IIIn I am working on for Panzer Arm. Juggling my time between both because both have been so patient I don't want to put one off for the other, so its lacquers to the right and acrylics tot he left and my art career in the middle...and oh yeah a baby

I love working on these big tanks though...just love it. I Wish I didn't sell mt 1:18th tiger, as soon a I can get one again I am painting it up for myself.

I wish I would have been given the MG, tow cables, spare wheels, tracks and other accessories to work over

but here she is, ding danged and ready to spit some smoke out both ends

I guess it all depends on what you want painted and how you want it painted.
I would hope that my supplies would be covered an that if you had any specific markings or unit insignia that you could provide decals. either wet slide or rub on (or at least the images in a high rez file, research is a biatch)

Obviously my studio is well stocked and armed with tools so I wouldn't have fees like that. It would be shipping to and fro, cost or 2-3 jars of enamel or acrylic paint (depending on what we are doing) and then small charge to cover thinner clean-up and haha electricity (not actually factored in)

I enjoy doing these, but I do have my regular art (pay the bills) gig and it is always on deadlines so I can get in a period of a few days to a week where I have to paint oil portraits non-stop... failure to deliver even one ON TIME means I can't pay bills and I get fired....not that I won't try to hit the tank during a time like this every few hours for some work, I just want people to understand I am on-call basically.

i am forming a small line of people interested, line up if you wish with a paypal or otherwise deposit and you can start sending me info and i will keep a file on your request and get back with you in full soon enough

It appears that December will be a vert slow Art portrait work month for me, so more work on tanks can be taken on if anyone wants a painted custom due to the low amount of touring acts and bands during the holidays for my clients to need me free to paint.

Thanks everyone, yes I think I find another gear when I know someone else is going to own it. That and this being my 2nd one larger than 1:32 (now having done the 1:18 and 1:16) i just enjoy it more.
I can really be delicate or go nuts and it seems to be "to scale" and more suited to what I am trying to do. Nice to paint a hinge and it parts instead of a bump-by-a-hatch on a 1:32 i guess

who makes the best RC ww2 tanks? Meaning what company is most often purchased?

Then what is "the top of the line" or diamond line?
meaning what is the ww2 RC tank company everyone wishes they could collect but might own 1 or 2 if they are lucky?

is there a build your own kit that gets super fancy or is it just ready made except for extreme modders and kitbashers?

what different types of tech are there when it comes to battling tanks? Is it just aim and shoot for boring damage "shudder" or is there something out there that really get detailed damage models or even actual damage?

Cabe, Good to hear you're doing ok after you're move and new arrival. I hadn't been following either of these two threads, as neither are vehicles I'm dealing with, but when I did check in to see the finished work, I thought it looked great.

For those who are curious, I can vouch for Cabe's work personally. I have a 1:32 LandRover which he repainted for me, and weathered as well. Someday I hope to have more of his work, when I can afford it. I don't remember what we agreed upon for the last piece, I remember I felt it was quite reasonable. The only reason I can't afford to have him do more is that since his work out-shines my own by such a large margin, I'd have to have everything done at once... And that would get pricey.

But that aside, Cabe you asked who makes the best R/C tanks? I'm afraid that I can't answer with a name of a company or the like, but for the best... look to old men. For a couple of years in a row, we had a show here in town called "Men, Metal, and Machines" where folks who did their own machining work at home would gather. There were all sorts of cool things there, but naturally, the tanks got my attention. These guys would build model tanks, powered with scale diesel or gas engines, running on machined metal tracks, with machined working suspension. Cast turrets with fully operational rotation and elevation. Some would have scale replica guns, with little machined breeches, while other would have airsoft, BB, or pellet guns. And some would have, well, turrets they didn't bring to the show (you did say you wanted damage, right?). Quite often they had multiple turrets, one a scale replica, and others that fired.

The little scale engines did tend to blow a bit more smoke that average, but when they fired them up, and drove them around, with the tracks clacking away on concrete... Man... Did I ever want to quit my job and start a many year long process of machining myself a tank.

The rest of the show was cool too. Scale V-8's, the boats, the trains, the little replica shops powered by steam engines... Lot's of cool stuff. But the tanks...
