Well, now that I've taken my 88 out of the box, all I can say is that I'm very impressed! The detail is spectacular and very intricate. There are some details that I'm surprised 21c didn't incorporate on a piece this large (namely working cranks that traverse and elevate the barrel) but overall it is an amazing piece.

With the previous debate, I agree with aferg that a gray version would have been the way to go and if 21c makes one, I'll probably get it. The DAK scheme, however, is well done. There are also plenty of DAK figures available to give it a full crew. That said, I am happy with it 8)

I'll post pictures of the gun "in action" at some point

I'm a bit more hesitant to repaint it at the moment
I'm inclined to hold off on repainting mine as well, at least for a little while to see how quickly an S2 grey version becomes a reality, and if a "S3" camo seems likely to follow. In the long run, it may be advisable to just hold on to the DAK for collector value, being that it is a limited production run and all.

I spoke with 21st today Which isnt easy. They said there are no plans for an S2 version for awhile. Its never easy to get any info out of them and you cant always count on what they say. There good people but generally dont know themselves what timeline they have.

yes well they're going to say that whether it's true or not. They want these desert things to sell and if word gets out the the grey one is just a few months away, that may hurt desert 88 sales.

Unless they're completely broke and can't afford to get them made they'd be crazy not to release the dark grey scheme by next summer, if not before. It will sell waaay better than the DAK version and i imagine they could use the sales.

They're producing some wonderful stuff these days, in both xd and 1/32. I sure hope they can pull through...

mine should be here any minute - so I'm excited reading all this news -
I actually like the looks of the DAK plus I have tons of Dak figures right now -
Now I wonder how many were pre-ordered? -

Took mine out of the Box today! (Came yesterday from MTS) NICE! So much detail! I want to compare it to my 1:32 Flak 88 and see the difference in the detail vs price. But I too highley recommend purchasing one. I would have preffered the grey but I may paint this one at a later date and remove the shield. (If they don't do grey)

Hi All,
I wouldnt paint up those 88s just yet. The manufacturer confirmed that an S2 paint scheme is in the works: field grey. No word as to when it'll be out but our guess is that they'd like their DAK 88 to sell out first before bringing in more inventory.

We've also confirmed the retail price on their upcoming 1:18 scale King Tiger. A heavier piece than the 88, our pre-order price has been set at $99.99; $109.99 after it comes out. Can't speak for the other retailers that frequent this forum, but a $100 pre-order price point seems to make sense, especially since it will be out, we believe, sometime in the first quarter, when the Xmas rush has died down.

Cordially,

Mine is in great condition! But one question: Without breaking it, how does the gun elevate?

Glad to hear the King Tiger is still coming out, wish it was before Christmas. Still don't like the price :x but if we want a Tiger they got us by the
I know things have changed in the industry and if this is what its going to take to keep the hobby going... I'll do what i can. 2 maybe 3 King Tigers.
It will be interesting to see what FOV 1:18th does once 21st KT comes out.

Glad to hear that an S2 88 gray version is coming out and that the KT is around the corner too. I'm not thrilled with the heavy price tag, but it is what it is and since we haven't had a new 1/18th tank for sometime I'm just glad the KT made it out of the concept stage. Interesting to see if FOV will follow suit and release their own version of the KT at a more reasonable price.

So it is confirmed. By realising what's probably the least popular scheme first, 21st is playing their customer base like a fiddle. Again.

Great!

Well not leaving anything to chance I did start my Grey 88 as many of you already know. I just finished doing a light airbrush weathering job on it, sprayed the end of the barrel in black and I think I am all done now.

Those wheel carriages were a bit more work in masking and painting than I would have expected. Turned out great though! I will try to take some shots tomorrow when I have some better light for the camera.

So one Dak and one field gray! Just need to do a camo version and I will be good.

The 88 must look 8) all finished in the grey scheme. Still debating whether I should attempt to paint one of mine.

Sorry, I didn't have time today but I will promise to post them up tomorrow for sure! Great way to start my work day! LOL

Between you and me I doubt that we will see a Grey 88 ANYTIME soon. It's why I didn't waste anytime getting 2 (well 21C did help me with that... Big thanks to my friend there). But regardless, I had planned on owning 2 from the start and then painting one. The BIG question was weather or not to do the 43 camo over the Grey. Grey won out. Looks SWEET! It was worth the effort. Now I just have to debate weather or not to sell it off. I know, I just finished it... I am 100% happy but... I just found out I have another opportunity with my other hobby

I SERIOUSLY need to generate some funds. I have 2 full days of open track in my Shelby GT and I need some performance brakes! Not cheap but REALLY nice to have! I can always paint another 88 later?... I dunno.
