memorial day is gone and no new stuff...4th July?

Post by 75th Ranger » Wed Jun 01, 2005 9:44 am

I wonder when the toy companies are going to deliver most of their new toys.
It seems like this year is only going to be a before X-mas deal....
Memorial day is gone and nothing new is available in my area, hopefuly they may release something new before the 4th of July. i really think some of these companies are loosing valuable opportunities to sell their items by not offering them during these commemorative holidays.
Well, hopefully we will see something new soon.
take care.

I agree with Ranger - I don't think Memorial Day, D-day, etc....should go un-used in terms of marketing and promotion of product.

And I don't care about the Chinese New Year, toy industry trends, etc....I can't believe it is good for business to have months and months of nothing new. Disposable income is just that, DISPOSABLE, so if it's not a new toy it is something else. Most of us have neither the means nor desire to have a "toy savings account." The 1:18 scale drought is frankly foolish, given all the product being hyped and promised.
Steady flow, one thing at a time, keep us hooked, keep us spending, keep us talking....you get the idea.

All that said I have a feeling the Japanese guys are sneaking up on us

But, this is nothing new, years past we have waited for releases in December, and found then hitting the floors in june or august, never can tell. I agree, alot of missed sales at special dates and or functions.
But what do I know, I whine and still buy them when the hit the shelves!

That's exactly how it is! We can whine and complain all we want for the lack of new products but when the new stuff hits we are pacified for awhile until the novelty of the new items erodes away and then our hunger for more new items sets in again and the process repeats.

I think a number of unrelated factors/events, some known and some probably unknown, have contributed to this drought. Naturally, it would be in a company's best interest to have new products evenly spaced throughout the year. Monday morning quarterbacking would have seen the Avenger released in February and a Typhoon in May. But stuff happens and things end up getting produced in clumps. Eventually, we'll settle for an F-104 and a Tinsel Town P-40.

Journalism is the same. One day is nothing but a Paris Hilton' lost dog story, the next, three big name, silver screen celebrities kick the bucket and a bride runs away. It's just to much to handle! :)
