Even though the first delivery of their 1:144 scale bomber line has been delayed until January, that hasn't stopped IXO Models from stoking the fires and unveiling two more images of their upcoming aircraft. The first multi-engined aircraft is a German Dornier Do-217E medium bomber, designed from scratch as a replacement for the venerable Dornier Do 17 bomber. The second aircraft shown for the first time is a US Consolidated PBY flying boat, painted in an early war olive green pattern. As an aside, it seems strange that the manufacturer should elect to go with this pattern for the PBY as opposed to a 'Black Cat' or sky blue naval variant, perhaps two more popular schemes. In any event, the two new machines will undoubtedly meet with great fanfare when they finally do get released, and helps keep the fires burning until the first wave of planes soar overhead....[posted 11/18/2008]
