We have all the new 32X in SW MO also. The P-40 is definetely the best of the bunch! The Galland 109's have good paint but wasn't impressed with the paint on the 262 and the P-51, too many errors. But still, love all the repaints!

P40 guns and other things...
I pulled out my handy copy of "Flying Tigers, Chennault in China", a Ballantine Illustrated History Book, and there are photos of various P40s that show the 4 long barrels(.30 Cal) protruding from the wings. They also show, what I figure is a later version(P40Ks) with six barrels that are just protruding from the wing in the same fashion as the P51.
The only problem I had with the P40 was the "Clara Peller" pilot. He sat so low in the seat, all you could see was his knuckles on the streering wheel. I took one of those red rubber erasers and sliced off a chunk to form a parachute rig at the right height. Then I glued it to his backside and now he looks like a real fighter pilot sitting(up) in there.
Taking the idea previously posted on the 1:18 board, the Me 109 is begging for an electric motor to be hooked up the the prop. That conversion is on the list.
Finally, I was wondering how many of you end up "cleaning up the wing to body joints" of the various planes to get a better fit? The P40 seemed to go together pretty good. The P51 rquired a bit of scraping and glueing to get a decent fit. The Me 262 look slike it require a good deal of fitting to get tight fit.

I went ahead and bought one even though I am NOT impressed with the paint job.. Remember a while back when the discussion about 21st's quality was determined by which factory it used??? A= being the best and C= the worst.. I would say the new 262's were being made in the "C" factory.. But, as I said, I did buy one because I like the scheme, and the canopy wasn't broke like on the last one..easy8 wrote:Thought I was going to get the P-40 this past weekend but didn't have time, but got a chance to pick it up today...it's sweet.
