Michigan Toy Soldier Company is the cheapest around I believe since you get discount benefits if you sign up for free as a "preferred" customer. You get 10% off on every purchase, and 20% off if you pre-order stuff. They also say they will beat any other vendors price, that alone puts them at the head of the pack in the price category. I've spent thousands of dollars with them over time and have never had any problems with my orders. They also occasionally (once every month or two) offer sales exclusive to those that sign up as a preferred customer, usually 20% off. I usually make my larger orders then to save the most.

Burbanks House of Hobbies is also very cheap, actually they offer the lowest every day advertised price on Dragon Armor I've ever found. Michigan Toy Soldier Company is cheaper after you take off the discount they provide, but if you go solely off the price listed on any vendors website, Burbanks is the cheapest. I used to order from them often and also never had any problems.

The Motor Pool offers a frequent shopper program that gives you points for every purchase that can be redeemed for free stuff. Nothing beats getting free stuff! I calculated that the points equal approximately to a 4-4.5 % discount to your original order, more if you wait to order when they offer a sale.

There's also Ebay, though you can't always find cheaper prices there than you can from an online retailer.

There are dozens of places to buy from online, I'd snoop around several of them comparing prices, shipping, etc. to work out what's best for you.

CAESERBC:

I ordered a 1/18 plane from Michigan Toy Soldier once and they added a second shipping fee to my order without notifying me. I saw the second shipping fee for the first time on my credit card statement. I emailed their customer service and they said it was a big box shipping fee. There was no indication on their website that the model would require a big box fee. I got my fee back after filing a dispute with my credit card company. Others have told me also experienced problems with Michigantoysoldier while others said they did not have problems.

I've ordered 1/18 models from ToysRUs, Target, MonkeyDepot, etc. and none of them have charged me a big box shipping fee.

Since you're looking for 1/72 models, you may not have big box problems, but I would suggest you shop around for other merchants anyway. One person told me he had a lot of trouble getting them to honor their low price guarantee but they finally honored it. He, like me, never ordered from them again.

CAESARBC:

If you sign up for merchants' email newsletters, they often give you 10% off plus free shipping--usually for orders over $100.
There are a lot of diecast dealers that offer deals similar to this: Diecastairplane, Crossroads, Aimhigherjets, Flyingmule, Badcat, Motorpool, etc.

Man, that's going to be hard to find any dealer selling them all that cheap. Your best bet is Ebay then. If you find one, please let me know! LOL. Good luck.

diecastdirect

go to sale items and closeouts, if you are looking for certain vehicles you might find one there and could get lucky.
