Cyber-Hobby Ardennes Offensive King Tiger Diorama

Post by The Tigers Den » Sat May 28, 2005 1:30 pm

Just a heads up for the "New" Cyber-Hobby King Tiger Diorama. Selling on EBay for $59.99 thats less than what Cyber-Hobby is charging once you figure in their shipping charges from Hong Kong.

No Dude - I think you may be mistaken ... When you order something from Cyber-Hobby, the default shipping price that pops up is really steep but you can change that before you put the order in ... I was confused at first, but after getting some tips, all the transactions have been smooth as ice-cream ... though Harry may disagree ..

Cheers - Pete

Math Is Math

Post by The Tigers Den » Sun May 29, 2005 7:35 am

No sir Mr. Australia, my numbers are correct unless math in Australia is different than the rest of the world. One Cyber-Hobby 60129 lists at 350.00 HK dollars; the shipping fee for one tank to the US via Courier Service is 120.00 HK dollars a total of $470.00 HK dollar or $60.44 US dollar. Even if you change the shipping rates to what you feel you want to pay Cyber-Hobby will change the rate to the correct one and charge your credit card appropriately.

Unfortunately, 'Tiger's Den' - I think that the individual from Australia makes a valid argument and maybe you need to re-visit your math skills.
If an individual purchases the item on Ebay that you are referencing, the buyer will also be responsible for $6.50 shipping, correct ?

Hold on, let me punch these numbers on the calculator .....
$59.99 + $6.50 ....... $66.49

I haven't taken a mathematics course in quite a while - but, $64.99 is more than the $60.44 that you calculated. So, I think that when just comparing only price, the individual from Australia had a valid argument.

Math, Math, Math, Ok guys valid point! Although, smh_1021 your charging $62.50 & $6.00 shipping = $68.50 or 3.023% more than the other guy  . My whole reason for replying to Mr. Australia’s post is that he makes it sound like the shipping fees that Cyber-Hobby charges are peanuts, that's just not the case. I would rather buy something from a dealer on EBay or elsewhere and if the item is damaged during transit then deal with someone that at the least answers his or her emails (not like Cyber-Hobby). Smh_1021 correct me if I am wrong but during one of your posts you complained that an item that was sent to you by Cyber-Hobby was damaged and that you contacted them about the problem. Here is your previous post:
(Dragon asked that I ship the item to the Dragon location in Hong Kong so that the engineers can determine what, if anything, needs to be done. And, if appropriate, the model will be repaired. (I sent a digital image of the 'broken' replica.) Maybe I should not be complaining, but should I need to assume the (substantial) expense of shipping to Hong Kong to repair a defective item. I guess I could save a few dollars and minimize shipping by sending via economy overseas/ground, but I would probably wouldn't receive the item for months (if at all). Part 2 Can't agree more - given that shipping to the U.S. is already quite substantial, there is no way that I am gonna' pay an addiitonal $20.00 to get a defective item fixed. I should, worst case, be able to spend $6.00 or $7.00 to have the item repaired in California and then have the item promptly returned).
I would have to say that that would be a crappy senario to be in for just one item. Another problem with buying just one item from Cyber-Hobby is that they use shredded paper as packaging material on all their item unless they are ordered in case quantity. This causes the items box to basically get ruined since they take no precautions to protect the items box from the abrasion of the shredded paper. Additionally, when dealing with a reputable dealer you can purchase multiple items and not have to pay a huge shipping fee (smh_1021 your customers do this all the time, right?). My opinion, buying from a reputable Cyber-Hobby dealer is the way to go and forget about sending just one item from Hong Kong, just my opinion  !

Whatever ... and there are others individuals that ask more than I do (and seem to continue selling substantial quatities). Your response to
an inaccuracy is to criticize a 3 percent difference in price ?

Let me address two points .....

1. You addressed a price comparison - and you were inaccurate. I agree that there are many reasons why purchasing from a retailer or Ebay seller would be preferable - (a) not needing to pay in advance, (2) CyberHobby customer service, etc. The argument that you provided was based upon price. Yes, I had a problem with an item that I received from CyberHobby - as I indicated, dealing with CyberHobby customer service can be a reason for purchasing from another retailer/seller.

2. Second .... I really have no interest in what the individual that you are referencing ('klussdog') is asking. If you don't like what I am asking on Ebay - don't buy the item. The comments that you have provided address why an individual may want to purchase from a retailer instead of CyberHobby - similar comments can be used to address why an individual will buy from a particular retailer instead of another. There are retailers that ask significantly more for similar items, but seem to have no problem continuing to sell the items. And, why ..... service, established relationships, etc. (difficult to put a value on customer service and an established customer/retailer relationship).

But, again ... just to clarify. Your post was concerned with price, not customer service.

Too many people in the world do not get this concept. Yet, it is really very simple.

In my experience, people will bitch about price even if the seller has the lowest price in the world. If you give them the item for free, then they'll whine if they didn't get express shipping too.

Essentially, if one finds themselves spending a great deal of time fretting over $3, then they probably shouldn't be wasting their money on little toy tanks.
