Nwe Xtreme Wings
Nwe Xtreme Wings
Found the 1/32nd P-40, a new P-51,new Me-109 and a new Me-262 at Walmart this morning.
The P-40 is the same paint scheme as the 1/18th. The P-51 is the Flying Undertaker. The Me-109 has a yellow cowl, a chevron, two bars and many kills on the tail. I know someone will know whose plane it is. The Me-262 has a yellow 3 and 1 with a blue and white band around the tail.
In the box of 6 comes 3 P-40's and one each of the P-51, Me-109 and Me-262.
No sign of the P-47 or Fw-190.

They're in CA, found them at Union City Wally in NorCal. They seemed to have only 1 box out, only P40's left.

I'm with Andrew on this one. I have to stick with one thing, and XD it is. I actually have more problems displaying 1:32 stuff than I do 1:18. Between FOV and 32x, it got too much. So, I have turned off the interest switch in 1:32......
Man, things have changed through the years. Remember when the Revell Pappy Boyington 1:32 Corsair was so big?? Now 1:32 looks like 1:48 to me now that XD has been out for 5 years.

Yeah, 1/32 scale used to look huge but not anymore. Although it's interesting: i still tend to visualize in 1/32 scale when i'm planning space etc for new 1/18 models i'm going to display. Once i put the thing together i have to totally replan almost every time because it's so much larger than i thought it would be. I love it!

I am a fan of both scales, but I'm a selective collector more or less, and only get certain pieces that have an appeal or use to me. That as opposed to getting every vehicle and repaint. Proportionally, I have more 1:32 armor than 1:18 as the selection is much more diverse and they also display well in the confines of either my university apartment bedroom or my room at home. Besides, with so many great offerings for mostly decent prices in all the scales, its hard for me to choose just one!

Walmart in Tulsa..
One Super Walmart had all four new Extreme wings planes.. I picked up the P-40 and Me-262.. The Mustang was alright, but the plane is still missing the vent nose under the spinner.. The 109 looked good also, just not my favorite scheme..

I have only removed the fuselage to look at it and I probably won't assemble it till later..easy8 wrote:Hey hworth, how's that P-40 look out of the box? I almost grabbed that today, but decided to hold off.

The paint is REALLY nice, and probably the best I have seen on a 32x plane.. The only things I don't care for is that the Chinese National markings (stars) are stickers to be applied after assembly.. I was really hoping more for decals.. The canopy looks oversized, but it is probably to accomodate the really well painted pilot that comes with it..
And the wing machine guns look more like 20mm cannons on a Hurricane.. I would guess if this is wrong, they can be cut off..
Overall, I will say this is the nicest of the 32x planes to date and would recommend picking one up if you are a AVG Flying Tiger fan..

On a side note, I assembled the P-40 last night and it went together well (It has 6 screws).. But the amazing part is that the flaps extend!!! That is something I haven't seen on a 32x plane as of yet.. The plane itself looks very good assembled although I am not a P-40 expert..

Cool, thanks for the review hworth, I'm going to get that bad boy this weekend. You mentioned in a previous post that the MGs look a little big, I think the P-40Bs had the guns sticking out of the wings pretty far. Checked it out on a few sites...here's an illustration and it looks as though the guns are out there a bit, anyway, maybe they won't need any trimming.
