IXO Arrives
IXO Arrives
A number of dealers are now reporting IXO in stock. I can't wait to see how they look up close and personal. Did anyone get theirs yet?

I have a J2M6 Raiden on order from BCA and it should come within a couple of days. For $20, there has to be some good amount of quality as both Corgi, Matchbox, and Dragon planes sell for less. I am pleased to see a company finally making some different planes other than the usual WWII aircraft (the Raiden, Typhoon, and Dewoitine come to mind.) I can't wait until that IXO Ki-43 Hayabusa comes out!!
Check out the below link to the Flying Mule website. They have some nice detail shots of the IXO planes now in stock:

Got my IXO J2M3 Raiden today. Its a nice little plane and a very interesting choice for a 1:72 scale diecast replica. I was pleased to see that it came with the pieces to display it gear up as well as gear down. The assembly was minor, though there are some small pieces. The plane could have used a pilot figure in the cockpit, but that is where Matchbox and Corgi spoil us. All in all, a nice release and I anticipate the arrival of the Ki-43 Hayabusa!

Got my 2 Typhoons from BCA today, awesome! I wonder if these will end up like the Matchbox planes, only available on ebay and very expensive... I thought I read somewhere each plane would be a limited release, can anyone confirm this?

Not sure about a "Limited" release, but they didn't send a whole lot over here in this test run of the American market. These same planes have been released in Spain (and Europe) under the names "Altaya" and in England as DeAugostini (sp?). They are part of a monthly subscription program, they get them for around $12-15/each.

I'm reserving room for the Yak-3, Il-2 Sturmovik, , the Dornier DO 335 Athe Heinkel He 162A Salamander, the Bristol Beaufighter, and the Komet and probably a bunch of others. There are some really neat new planes, never before available in diecast metal...and the quality is up there with Matchbox maybe Corgi too.

Excelent
Excellent info Mr. Football!
OMG! This company has some real airplane people working for it (unlike, say, Witty) and they know exactly what to do and how to do it. This line-up is outstanding. They are making what virtually everyone in the know on this board has been calling-for, for years.
Bring 'em on!

Here's a little blurb from a website about the D520, http://www.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/AARG/d520.html
The best fighter in the French inventory at the time of the German invasion, the D 520 managed to shoot down 147 German aircraft before the capitulation. The Vichy government subsequently put the D 520 back into production but in 1942 the Luftwaffe seized 411 aircraft, distributing them to Italy, Rumania and Bulgaria while retaining a number of them for training purposes. In 1944 Free French forces seized a number of them and put them back into service against the Germans in southern France.
I heard elsewhere that by the time France surrendered in 1940, a total of 437 D520s had been built, 403 of which were in active service with the French Air Force. Alot being destroyed on the ground would make sense... the French love their siestas!

most stories about air forces being 'destroyed on the ground' are myth, usually inititated by propaganda. It was a myth that the Polish airforce was destroyed on the ground, same myth about the french airforce and then later about the russian.
All natiions that are invaded by surprise suffer large numbers of aircraft destroyed on the ground.....just like the US did at Pearl Harbor, but they quckly re-deploy, camouflage etc the aircraft they have left. It's very difficult to destroy an entire airforce on the ground...or at least was back in WWII, without precision guided weapons or very high yield weapons.
