Top Secret Bad Cat Mustang

Post by MightyMustang » Mon May 23, 2005 10:58 am

Just got off the phone with a rep at Bad Cat Toys. I was inquiring about their Top Secret 1/18th Mustang, and talk about TOP SECRET!!! The rep gave me two things of info:

1- The Mustang IS the BBI Version.
2- The Mustang will be wearing the markings of the 352nd Fighter Group but he would not say what Pilot it would represent.

He hinted that it might be released before September 05 but if not, Sept is the month that we will see it. He wouldnt give out any other info because he said that its a joint venture between them and BBI. He said just to keep watching the Bad Cat Website for updates and if your a fan of the 352nd Fighter Group you will love it.

So that answers some of my questions. And thats that it is the BBI Mustang, it will be wearing the colors of some pilot that flew with 352nd, and it is legit and not a rumor.

The only question remains for me is what Pilot they will choose for the Mustang markings? Will it be Preddy? Meyer, or Bryant? I'm hoping that it will be either Preddys or Capt Donald Bryants "Little One III" because they were my two favorite Mustang pilots of the 352nd. But whatever BBI and BadCat decide I will be snapping it up ASAP. And for those who are going to sit back and wait for the 21st release? I say good because that means more Mustangs to order for me!!!! :D

Cool update Mustang! :D I've never seen someone so excited for a repaint :P

Cripes A'Mighty is a popular scheme so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they went with....The bbi info is flowing today :)

While i'm not specifically interested in this repaint very much, i'm very glad that exclusive items like this have been and will continue to be made. Adds an exciting new dimension to the hobby for us collectors and increases sales for both the manufacturer and the enterprising store that commissions the exclusive.

Everybody wins!

Good job BCA - and see I was right from the very moment that this project was announced that it was a repaint of the BBI Mustang!

Yep tman you were right from the outset! But you dont have to be a genious to know it was the BBI Mustang from the photo you posted. The dead give away was the blunt nose on the Mustang pictured. That was one BBI Mustang screw up (but no big deal). Why I'm so excited about this release is because I still believe that the BBI Mustang is the very best 1/18th Mustang out there and set the standard for what we expect our 1/18th planes to be and until 21st re-releases their new-tooled Mustang my opinion wont change. On top of that I have to admit that the BBI Mustangs paint scheme is not one of my favorites. Dont get me wrong its very well done but I'm an 8th AF guy and I wished BBI would have done their Mustang wearing the markings of an 8th AF Fighter. Several times I looked into doing a re-paint on my Mustang wearing the markings of a famous fighter from either the 352nd OR the 357th Fighter Group. Well thanks to BBI and Bad Cat I wont have to do that.

I just wish Bad Cat wouldnt be so damn secretive on what pilots fighter they are gonna do. I have a feeling it may be Major George Preddys "Cripes A Mighty". I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

But am I happy about this guys? Yes I'm very happy!!!!!!

I'll wait until the 21C Mustang comes out. I think Roy has something good up his sleeve. Until then, my bbi 'stang will do, but I eagerly await the new one. It will set the bar higher, for sure.
