Retooled P51
Retooled P51
Sorry if this is a duplicate post (I haven't had time to be on the forum as much lately), but I saw that the retooled P51 is scheduled for late Summer 05 release at Bad Cat. The paint scheme is still up in the air it sounds like.

Retooled P51
Digger,
I never said to believe that it will come out in late summer, just that Bad Cat has it on its site.
I'm not that naive. hahahaha!

heh-heh
I know - I would never accuse you of that.
However I think late summer is a good estimate for the P-51, at least better than the P-40 within a week or so - unless it's coming over the water very stealth-like

I called ToyFed today and was informed that the pre-order for the winter 109 was going to be pulled soon. Too bad, because I was thinking about ordering one, especially with the 20% discount.
I guess online sellers are as tired of waiting for new 1:18 product as we are.

p-51
I think we're all hoping but to be sure is bold....I think the "never before seen feature" will play huge in the final comparison.tmanthegreat wrote:I'm sure the 21c retooled P-51 will out do the excellent BBI plane

Uh-oh T-man looks like you may just see that Mustang before the Avengertmanthegreat wrote:However, I will be hopping mad should the retooled P-51 start showing up before the Avenger!

Unless WM gets the first run of Avengers in August

Well, darn! Fall usually means Christmas (or later). Is this thing going to finally show up in February of '06 - two years after it was announced? This had better be the best darn 1:18 scale airplane ever made! What does this say for the other 1:18 aircraft such as the ME-262, F-86 and MiG-15? Pipe dreams? Hopefully the Wal Mart card will be played and we'll see this thing sooner at those locations...
Delay
I'm sure everything is still coming we just have to be realistic about when it will be out. People were talking about 9 new AC
by the end of the year and that's just getting hopes up for no reason....

First I'm happy with what I have in the BBI Mustang. The plane is beautiful and accurate enough for me so why would I want another one. I'm the type of guy who buys at least one of each. That is why I havent bought all the re-paints of the various Corsairs, Thunderbolts, Spitfires ect. Another Mustang because 21st has a re-tooled version? Unless they have the paint scheme depicting one from the 357th Fighter Group I'll pass. My money my choice.
Am I a little pissed off because of the delay of the Avenger? You bet I am. Everytime I get excited for its impending release they delay it. Now that its being released Fall 2005 it better be one of their best releases because if it aint watch out thats all I'm gonna say.
Centone am I going to snub 21st's Mustang? If its not wearing the markings of the 357th yes I am because as I said before I'm not the type of guy that buys every little thing 21st throws out there plus it has alot to do with space constraints as well. You want to run out and buy it go ahead your money.
21st should start concentrating on other WW 2 warbirds like the Zero, Hellcat ect. Especially the Hellcat because it was one of the most important WW 2 Fighters in Naval history. You talk about snubbing something? The Hellcat has been snubbed by 21st for to long in my book.

Hellcat
Helllcat sounds great but so did an FW-190 - everybody said they wanted it but they weren't ready to BUY it.
What would you rather they not have done? The P-38? No. The Corsair? Obviously not. The P-40? Maybe? When you say what they should have made you have to think what it would have been in place of.

BCA says that the P-40 in 1:32 has been postponed indefinitely, however, I have seen the P-40 in 1:32 in WM this past week.
Perhaps WM has negotiated for most favored retailer status and has thus forbidden 21st from selling to other retailers for the time being?
Hopefully the same will be true with the new mustang and avenger, however, I'm not gonna hold my breath.
I also saw a 1:32 galland 109 which was news to me.

release dates
Good point - I'm hoping this is the case with new XD as well.gustav wrote:BCA says that the P-40 in 1:32 has been postponed indefinitely, however, I have seen the P-40 in 1:32 in WM this past week

I think you can pre-order a Kiowa at BCA

What?

I must be taking this quote the wrong way.
Do you really want all the major new products in the hands of one retailer? A monopoly? Especially since WM has such a checkered and uneven distribution record. What about everyone who does not live close to a Wal Mart?Hopefully the same will be true with the new mustang and avenger, however, I'm not gonna hold my breath.

yup
You are taking it the wrong way - the point is while BCA may correctly say they are getting something in the fall, it could be out much sooner at WM.
By the way - what piece do you want that went to WM and you couldn't get? Even the Nightfighter sells for about retail on ebay
The WM pieces are the cheapest and easiest to score

OK, I think I get it.
Retailer? Ebay? I don't consider Ebay a retailer. The more options I have for purchasing, the better. Walk-in, mail order, and online.
As for Wal Mart -- I won't sacrifice my principles of what is right and wrong just to save $5-10. The fact is, the average WM puts 2-3 grocery stores out of business when they come to town. These businesses anchor small shopping centers where an average of 11 unrelated businesses also wither and die.

Indeed, you did take it the wrong way.
I'm not in favor of WM getting the planes first, but, I'd rather see them released this summer instead of late fall. Same goes even if I was assured of not seeing them at WM, which is what probably will happen.
Of course I would prefer if all sellers could receive the products simultaneously, but, like it or not, WM has a little more clout than the average seller and hence can make more demands. A WM order, or lack thereof, either makes or breaks a company's year and I'm sure 21st does what it can to keep the beast happy.
In short, I just wanna see the planes get released. I'll figure out where to buy one later. Probably online though.
