but does it come with a magnify glass?

Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

That looks really nice. With all of Dragon's 251/10s, it's nice to see some basic 251/1s around, and that pak 40 is killer! I'd like to get 4 of these sets, but at $25 + shipping, that's pretty steep. Maybe it'll eventually see an action series release like the previous M3 & 105 howitzer set.

Got one on the way. It should come Thursday or Friday. I'll post some pictures when I get it

I am going to wait until this comes out at Target. $25 seems steep for this to me.

You might not actually have to wait long... I found a cuouple new Battle Extreme sets at Target today: the D-Day set with the tan Kingtiger and a new repaint for the 1:72 Blackhawk. I'm not sure whether that was the full slection or not.

The FOV halftracks paint job looks horrible in my opinion, the Dragon Armor version seems much better. Still would like to check it out though as pictures can sometimes be deceiving.

Even better. With the enthusiast series you get one of these.

Yes, but does Dragon make a regular SDK-251 without some modification like a cannon or bridge pieces? I've not seen one, but as I'm not a huge Dragon collector and they make a ton of vehicles, I could be missing something... I'm very sure Dragon does not make a Pak-40 or include soldiers with their sets

Dragon made a couple 251/1's awhile back - I think grey, white, tan, and 3 tone versions, but you're right, they've mostly done 3.7cm gun and engineer versions. And the 3 tone one has an odd numbering scheme that shows a different number crossed out on the side - a bit unusual for my taste. So this is the one to get if you want to build up a platoon.
I like the looks of the paint on this one since I think it does a nice job of 1) replicating the sloppiness of real field applied cammo, as well as 2) brings off the look of a muddy, battered veteran vehicle extremely well - much better than any of Dragon's versions. Dragon's efforts can come off as too "factory fresh' some of the time, at least for my taste.

As to 1/72 scale soldiers, Dragon has included a handful of prepainted figures with their AFV's. Though not many, they are miles above in quality to the very odd looking FOV figures that are usually warped and hold things that vaguely resemble historical weapons.
Thats true but you only get those figures with the diorama sets

The paint scheme in my opinion is not the greatest but we get a pak 40 with it which is nice. Didn't no Dragon did all those paint schemes, well I dont collect alot of 1:72 scale but a few things.

Got the Sd. Kfz. 251/1 half-track and 75mm Pak 40 set today at Target.
Quite a nice set, Bad Cat Toys does not show or list an additional figure in the set, its a German soldier standing in the half-track aiming the machine gun.

the Pak40 needs a true gun, not just 3 germans in poses.
and yea the Dragon 251s are better with real markings(not units, but tactical ie PanzerJager, Panzergrenader Abteilung, etc)..not that those thing matter to the demographic that FOV is targeting first and utmost, kids.
What's the price on the FOV set? Which some paint, decals it could def turn into a good set...not sure who makes a 1/72 gun crew..Prieser(sp?)

well for the only 251/4 < the towing model for light guns. 16$ isn't bad...heck some companies would charge 16$ just for the PaK40 alone.
