That metaphor (?) worked for me back when these were available in stores. I remember driving to ToysrUses, K&Bs & Wal-Marts (back in pre-Target days) looking for particular wonder-buys. Today most of my searching is on the internet and the interval between finding, (often finding all 'sold out' when it came to) ordering-occasionally a pita extended process, then waiting for a delivery... took the bloom off that rose before it got to my door. At least the bricks and mortar experience encompassed that 'thrill of the chase'.
Also, then, when a model was damaged in the box or simply less than I had hoped for (remember those dates?) I could simply walk away. Today I have to go through a big to-do because, gosh, the seller may be half way around the world. Or even worse a rip-off artist like this guy in Colorado and even though I get my money back I never come close to the product.
I think that buying on the internet is more akin to phone sex than chasing down a girl for a date.
FOV's delayed!
Re: Grievance
Funny you should mention - I work in health care. You think I'm putting on pressure, then try working with surgeons! My whole professional existence is customer service. My customers include the patients, the physicians and my co-workers. Customer service is an attitude and I just don't sense any effort at customer service at all from Unimax. That's the real frustration. OK, it's not heart medication, etc. BUT I don't see why ANY company can't take the customer relationship just as seriously! Certainly it's just a toy, but if our suppliers won't take the customer relationship seriously then they will put themselves out of business. It isn't the truck - it's the attitude that I really find annoying. As far as I have heard your business has a good reputation - you got it by working at keeping the customers happy. That earns my respect - Unimax doesn't and hasn't.lightning2000 wrote:Hello Gary,
I just think that if the tables were reversed, and someone was hounding you day and night at whatever you or anyone else does in their professional life, then they'll understand the pressure they're causing and maybe, just maybe, turn it down a notch. This isnt heart medication, or food, or shelter.

Customer Service
Hi Gary,
Small world. My eldest daughter just became a surgeon and my wife works for a major health care system here in New York.
I hear where you're coming from. Its just that sometimes the manufacturers may not be at liberty to disclose why they cant hit their deadlines. It could be they're working with a new factory, or an important person left the firm, or prices are skyrocketing out-of-control, etc. Quite frankly, I dont see all that many manufacturers explaining why there are delays. Usually, its left up to the dealers, who oftentimes must scratch their heads trying to figure out why products keep getting delayed based upon cursory information.
Its not a perfect world, and I dont see very many major changes taking place anytime soon. One of the reasons why I post here and try to explain these circumstances. A lightning rod, if you will, hence the callsign...

And just a paean of praise for you lightning2000. You do an excellent job of keeping the rest of us abreast (something to do with chasing that skirt we were talking about earlier??) of what is happening on the distribution side of our hobby. Thank you

Thanks
Hi,
Thanks, but you'd never know it if you visit the "other" forum. We have a 100% positive feedback on ebay (6500+), and some loyal customers here, but you'd think you were consorting with the devil if you read some of the posts over there. Then again, even Microsoft, GM and others have their detractors, so its all part of the game.
Our real change is coming this week, once our new interface is grafted onto our existing e-commerce frame. I'm getting ready for several sleepless nights, making sure the shakedown phase works without any major hitches. You can already see our new logo here, which hints at our mid-course direction...
Cordially,

What "other forum" is that?
I love controversy (as you know).
