Dragon 1:72 Sherman On the Horizon

Post by lightning2000 » Mon May 16, 2005 12:13 pm

Hi All,
Looks like the long awaited 1:72 scale Sherman is finally moving into the realm of reality. If you look at the Shizuoka Hobby Show images (which can be found within the Dragon Models web site) you'll see a greyed out image for the Sherman alongside the other Dragon Armor pieces. There's also a finished Nashorn being shown as well as some Sturmtigers with loading hooks.

As the Dragon Expo nears, we're willing to be that they'll be offering a Show exclusive Albin Irzyk Sherman tank and most probably a Jagdpanther, seeing as how they bundled the two 1:6 scale figures together as one set.

I thought the 1/72 Dragon Expo Exclusive was going to be the L/70 Jagdpanzer IV??? Maybe I'm wrong???

Hi,
Dragon will be offering the Johann Huber Jagdpanzer IV L/70 at the Expo as an exclusive. I'm sure they plan on coming out with other Jagd IV L/70s as part of their regular line. While no official announcement has been made regarding the Albin Irzyk Sherman, I think its a pretty safe bet as sort of an adversarial piece to go toe-to-toe with Huber's tank. Likewise, I can see them doing a Show Exclusive Jagdpanther since the Irzyk figure is being teamed up with a Jagdpanther commander. Of course, this is all speculation, but I feel its a conclusion with some merit.

It's a shame, but I know hardly anything about general Albin Irzyk. And the informations in the internet are very poor. The name sounds Polish. I wonder if anybody could tell me more about him.

Dragon showed the outline image of the Sherman LAST year, too, along with the t-34, pz Iv early, and pz 3 early. At least we're getting the T-34s...There are at least 5 different paint schemes in those photos.
