BBI DAUNTLESS---"C45"?

Post by dragon53 » Wed Sep 03, 2008 9:19 pm

Does anyone know the status of the BBI 1/32 SBD Dauntless, "C45" with the red-trimmed roundels?
It is a repaint of the already-released Dauntless "C46".

PS....I think the "C45" has a better paint scheme than the just-released "C46".

Hi,
The last time I checked with the distributor, they had no product information on either this plane or the F-104. Now that doesnt mean things havent changed since our last inquiry...

What was strange is the BBI showed the C45 version from the onset, but did not release this as the S1 version.

Hi,
I've seen stranger things. On a related subject, we just posted product information and pix of their upcoming 1:32 scale Vraciu F6F Hellcat. Images courtesy of Historic Aviation.

I'd much prefer the version shown above with the red outlined insignia. That style was used for only a short time but I've always liked it. It is used on the 1:48 Aleutian Tiger P-40 as well. 8)

Although the Dauntlass is one of my favorite WWII aircraft. I'm still going to pass. This one looks better then the first. But still, a Dauntless should have more color to it. I'll wait untill they come out with a Coral Sea or Midway version. (Hopefully)

I was going to say, I like this version, but I would like a Midway or Coral Sea version first also. When the Dauntless really made it's mark, and basically saved our asses.

Yeah, this is a nice one. The red outline on the insignia looks cool. I would have no problem buying this one as well.

I had heard that the early 1941-1942 Navy planes with the red dot in the middle of the star was painted over because of possible confusion with the enemy's red meatball.
I wonder why they brought the red back around the star and bar, (1942-1943?) then eliminated it again? I know this insignia was on some Hellcats too.
