Toy Run

Post by tyconut » Wed Aug 27, 2008 7:10 pm

After posting on the boards here this morning about the P-51 Mustang ( Double Nuthin ). I got to thinking. I've seen this plane, I had it in my hands. If it does turn out to be a super rare model. I'm going to kick myself, HARD!!! The only Target I saw the four star line at is 30 miles away. So, I picked up the phone and called my wife to see when she was getting out of work. She said, she was blowing out early. I said, want to make a toy run? (she collects stuff to) She said, sure, even if we don't find anything, we can checkout all the flooding. We were lucky with Fay, we were in the center for two days and compared to everyone else around us, we didn't get any rain.

Anyway, first stop a walmart. Spits showed up there, but nothing else new. Next the prize, Target. One Double Nuthin left and I got it. I also picked up the artillery figures (they didn't have these last visit) to go with my long tom and two camo PZ38(t)'s. (for the fun of it) Stopped at Kmart, to check, but found nothing.

So over the river to look at the water. (and there was a lot of it) Next stop TRU, they reset, but had nothing new. Another Target, still no four star there. (didn't expect it, but had to look) Turning around to head home and stop at wally world. They had just finished their reset. All the 21st century was on clearance. There were no tags for any 21st century stuff on the shelfs. I asked a clerk about it and he said, they were NOT going to carry ultimate soldier any more! I grabed a pair of spits and two red 19 190s for $11. each.

I then made a wide return trip home to checkout a pair of walmarts that I visit only rarely. Nothing on clearance and 21st century still on the shelf at both. Only new stuff were spits.

It was a good toy run. My wife bought some stuff to. (what, I don't know)

Weird. The WalMarts here have actually given 21st a little more room with this last reset. Not much product, but the space is there.

A few weeks ago I picked up ME-109s, FW-190s and P-51D Sharkmouths all for $11. Remember, here on the west coast the FW and Mustang are new releases! Next week, more FW and Mustangs for $14.99. Go figure...

I haven't seen anything at my Targets...

The Wal-marts near me have been getting a spattering of 1:32 planes in stock for $11.
Can't beat the price, so I picked up another Fw-190 "Red 19" and a P-51 Sharkmouth.

Still keeping an eye out for the elusive "Double Nuthin" & "Black 2"

Toy runs can be dangerous. Yesterdays run gave my wife the bug. After work today she wanted to head off in a different direction. Who was I to say no, so up the coast we go.

Of interest to you guy's we stopped at five walmarts, two targets, kmart, hobby town and tuesday morning.

Three of the walmarts had done their resets and none of them now have 1/32 vehicles. I managed to pick up three marders and a 38(t). All the other vehicles I saw had issues and not worth the clearance price. In one store I found the little mortar pits on clearance. Not the box set, these are just three men and a mortar on a card. US and German, the paint job on the Germans is nasty, but I bought them any way. Speaking off three man sets, the Chinese infantry A & B are in two of these stores. These stores are also full up with spits. I'm going to get sick of spits.

The two stores that hadn't done resets, had no clearance and also didn't have spits.

No four star at the two Targets. No FOV at Kmart. Hobby Town has jacked up their prices. $59.99 for all 1/32 vehicles and airplanes. Tuesday morning was a waste of time.

Unlike yesterday, I know what my wife bought today. I had to carry it all in. We no longer have a guest bedroom. It's now a really big toy box.

No matter how much fun they are, toy runs can be dangerous!!

PS@ Ruger, none of this really happened.
