Good news / Bad news at TRU

Post by jlspec » Fri Aug 22, 2008 4:06 pm

Bad news (for me) - the TRU closest to me has removed ALL 21st Century and FOV products from the shelves. No one in the store new the status or where they went. They said they were doing a phasae change and if things aren't moving the are removed.

Good news - a TRU I stop at while traveling put out several new 1/32 box sets including Russian Soldiers and Imperial marines

Maybe they'll show up as clearance, somewhere, somehow, eventually?

Same here, with some new 1/18 aircraft. A P51 and ME109 that I've never seen before. Of course I have'nt been looking for these.

I saw some old observation post sets and Russian infantry in some pretty nice looking new style packaging. TRU also had 2 1:18 Stukas. Not sure where those came from!

The floor clerks showed me where they moved the GI Joe and Elite Force(?) but no sign of 21st C or FOV

21st is in the same aisle as GI Joe and all the military toys in my TRU. Opposite side and all the way down.

Check again, one of my TRU in my AO moved it one aisle away from where the military toys were originally placed, which was directly behind it.
Interesting finds. I'll be staging a massive offensive tomorrow... -TRU just made the list!

Sounds like TRU just got interesting again. I won't hold my breath, but some change is always good

OK, I admit, you had me worried there. Enough so that I made it a point to stop by my TRU on our way to dinner tonight (have I ever mentioned what a great girlfriend I have?). But a quick examination revealed that TRU was about the same as ever. Rearranged, but still the small, but well stocked area of FOV and 21st. And one BBI 1:18 plane also, but I didn't pay attention to which one it was. I'll be checking my Target this weekend, but I don't expect anything to be different.

Was able to capture the Russian Infantry and Imperial Marines sets in my final campaign over Orange County. Got them at the Cerritos TRU, they were the only ones left. Now the Chinese soldiers have company tonight.

Btw, for anyone that encounters them you may get a pricing problem, just like when the 1:18 BBI repaint figs first appeared. I brought them to the checkout and the sets were not in the database yet, so I had to take them back to the military section to clarify the price.

At least one TRU in my are has also done the resets. The only new things were the Japanese and Russian soldiers. As the sets are identical to the ones I got a couple years ago, I didn't pick them up, but they are great figures. Otherwise, it was the same old stuff. I will have to check the other TRU in my area when I get the chance.

I already have about 5000 Russians from all the Kursk play sets I've had. It's like a cyborg army.
