Son of ding dong! Propeller snapped off. Calling experts.
I knew it! The day was going to come and it had to be today, the day it was gonna get packed!
I have the p-47 hung over the ceiling by the bed I wake up evey morning. I usually bump onto it every now and then, but today I accidently punched it while putting on a shirt, snapping off the propller in half.
Super glue and JB Weld failed. Help? Anyone want to take up the project with a small compensation?

Are you saying a blade broke off, or the shaft? If a blade, I assume it broke at the hub? Superglue should work, and I don't know why it hasn't. I would suggest looking through the hobby or craft store for a two-part quick set epoxy. And if you have the small tools, drill into both broken parts and insert a section of paperclip or other stiff wire to strenghen the joint. If this doen't work LMK.

Sorry to hear that happened! I once did something similar with my S1 Corsair, the pitot tube on an F-104 and once I bought an Avenger only to have the propeller blade fall right off...
flayrah's suggestion of the superglue or epoxy along with using the wire for support are excellent ideas and I will confirm from my own experience that they work

Let me add to this if you will. Drilling a small hole in both pieces and inserting a wire or paper clip should do the Job. But if you wait for the CA glue to dry , it could be a headache. So you need to get some kicker or quick ativater for the CA glue. When you spritz tha CA glue it sets in an instant. This is the way to go.

The re-enforced repair is the way to go. I did it, using 5 minute epoxy, with my 21st P51 and it held so well that when the plane fell again, the repaired prop snapped near the tip of the blade and not at the previous repair. This time, the broken off piece disappeared so I nothing to work with.
I had an offer of a 21st prop from a fellow board member, but the communication dried up. I guess they lost interest in helping out or got diverted elsewhere...

Figures break as well
This is sort of off topic, and may not count as much, but I get just as ticked off when I open up an XD figure and some piece inside snaps off.
Like a hand, or piece of a range finder.
Yeah, you can glue it back on, but it's just not the same. Kinda sucks.

Whenever this happens (in the case of joints), I try to extract the peg. If you're successful in doing this, and have a lathe, it's fairley easy to machine a new peg, drill a hole in the piece that broke off and glue it in.. Or, if you don't have one, you can grip a small metal or plastic rod with a power drill, lock it in the on position, then use sandpaper to shape it into a peg.

How about some m-80s and some model glue then set it on fire…Rowsdower wrote:I'd just throw the whole damn thing at the wall. But I wouldn't recommend it.
